A new hope in the Prometheus, Pandora, Zeus barbecue story

The Olympians must have had a good reason to be annoyed about Prometheus' fire gift to mankind. They really liked that barbecue on Earth, but lacking a bit humor and being cheated for the best meat by Prometheus once and then the leak of fire, that was too much.

They knew quite well about their creation's capabilities and that they would soon compete with them on the same level just given enough and time and generations. Why? Because "the gods and mortal men sprang from one source" [Hesiod 11].

They tried to delay them by sending the first bioweapon to Earth inside the jar carried by female android Pandora. Since then "diseases come upon men continually by day and by night, bringing mischief to mortals silently" [Hesiod 10].

But fortunately "Hope remained there in an unbreakable home within under the rim of the great jar" [Hesiod 10].

That means there is a real chance to bring the Olympians back to reason, finally reason separates man from animals. Even with the large re-openings of the jar at crucial times in mankind's history they might consider a re-thinking: When global trade became daily business in the 14th century and the plague almost prevent that from happening. Now with interplanetary travel becoming reality within one or two generations.

I heard the Olympians really enjoy a good beef barbecue. That might be a good starting point to bring them to the table.
