That's likely a valid point.

It's also one that (hopefully) they've given thought to. I do think, that perhaps, one of the reasons that McConnell apparently said tonight that, (we'll have "a vote"), rather than "we'll confirm" - which is what he'd said in February - may be due to that very reason.

If that is the case, it may also be true then, that (by at least having the vote - even if the nominee doesn't make it - is that it will force the cards onto the table: those that support the pres and those that don't.)

I think the senator from AK is up for re-elect in a yr or two. I think people will remember.

Anyways, the Senate has a stimulus bill still sitting on their plates. IF they want to circumvent the nomination process by stalling. Then they will not only endanger their legislative authority but they will also enable executive authority by default.
