Not much I can change there. I’m not the most mentally stable. If diagnosed I’d most likely be found as bipolar. So I understand her aversion to guns. Although I’d like to have one for when that day comes. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76377772 Canada 09/19/2020 01:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live in the burbs of a city recently hit by riots sparked by the killing of a guy whose name rhymes kinda with porridge Boyd. My daughter lives in the inner city near where that shit went down. I have been wanting for the longest time to get a CC permit and a gun, but my wife is 100 percent against it. I go to the range and shoot 9mm and .45’s when I say I’m “running errands”, but don’t tell her. With all the shit going down with BLM and the election and now RBG dying, I am really concerned. A Trump campaign supporter was just assinated a block away from my daughter’s house so this hits close to home. How can I convince my wife that it’s time for a gun and CC? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75501202 if you're not all ready strapped it's too late. There are firearm and ammo shortages nation wide, also depending on your state it could take 3-6 months to process your license or permit. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75501202 Honestly, anyone right now asking whether or not they should buy a gun and get a Concealed Carry, would be more of a danger to themselves and their family, than to any bad guys. I would pass. Even if you've been sneaking off to the range to shoot, you're a few years away from truly being effective in a gunfight. You're better off spending your time on cardio, so if the time comes, you can run. Seriously. There's so much more than just shooting. You have to spend a LOT of time learning to draw your weapon and reload, not to mention shooting and moving as opposed to standing in front of a static target. Get a baseball bat and some good running shoes and get in better shape. Last Edited by IAMTHATGUY on 09/19/2020 02:23 AM "Peace in our time? Anonymous Coward User ID: 76258609 United States 09/19/2020 02:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No it's not time now. The time was months or years ago, when laws were easier, ammo was cheaper and plentiful. When there were training courses every other week without worrying about social distancing or masks. I'm truly sorry if you were aware of things but unable. I'm not sorry if you were aware and able but unwilling to make sacrifices of time, effort, expense, or spousal good-will to do what you needed to do to protect your household. A few less BJ's vs equipping yourself and your household to stay alive... says a lot about a man's level of maturity and your response to that comment will most likely confirm the assessment. That said... Get a gun. Learn it. Not basic "oh, how do I load it again?" But LEARN it in a muscle memory sense. That takes regular, routine practice. You can't tell me you have that without min 500 rounds down the pipe and at least 3 range trips a week or more apart. Did you get instruction first? No? Then you just practiced 500x how to do it wrong. GET TRAINING. Not just beginner "how not to shoot yourself" basic safety training. Real defensive fighting for your life training. Uncle Bob who was in the war may have lived thru it but he's not a trainer. Pay for training. It's not easy like it looks on TV. 100's different things you have no idea about. No it's not "time"... it's well past time in fact now is almost the worst time I've seen and I'm pushing 60. You do what you gotta do with what you got. I would 't want to be in your shoes for anything. You have your task cut out and I wish you well but you are facing tall odds. Good luck, Gods be with you... but get over your wife's issues, they're hers not yours... do what you think is right and necessary but do it safely and advisedly, not half-assed. She'll be glad you did... eventually. |
