Military vet Steelers Player Subs out Police Shooting Victim’s Name for Hero Soldier
When the Pittsburgh Steelers chose to honor a police shooting victim, offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva covered his name with that of a black Army Sergeant who died saving six Soldiers.

The Steelers announced on Monday that players had agreed to honor Antwon Rose Jr., a black teenager killed by police violence, by wearing his name on the back of their helmets. When they took the field against the New York Giants, Army veteran Alejandro had covered Rose’s name and hand wrote Alwyn Cashe over it.

Cashe was a career soldier who enlisted in the US Army straight out of high school in 1988. He served multiple tours in the Gulf and Iraq wars and achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class.

On a mission during a 2005 deployment to Iraq, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Cashe was traveling in hit an IED and burst into flames. His uniform was doused in fuel as he managed to escape, but Cashe went back into the burning vehicle to rescue injured Soldiers, while in flames himself.

He saved six Soldiers and denied medical attention until they were all evacuated. He died weeks later of burn injuries that covered 72% of his body.

He was awarded the Silver Star for his actions, but supporters continue to push for an upgrade to the Medal of Honor. On Wednesday, new legislation was introduced in the U.S. House to allow the President to award Cashe the honor, he is currently ineligible as more than five years have passed since his heroic actions.

When Alwyn Cashe was medically evacuated, his uniform had burned to ash. All he had left was his ballistic (kevlar) helmet. He definitely deserves to be awarded the Medal of Honor.

If people choose to memorialize criminals and ignore a man that sacrificed his life to save his Soldiers, I fear that we are done as mankind's greatest hope. It truly saddens me to see what has become.

Great story op. Good for the Steelers player who chose to stand against the crowd. God bless the soldier and yes he does deserve the medal of honor in my opinion. But you must know that there aren't too many good people watching the football now days. And I didn't even want to click this thread because I despise the nfl ... But something grabbed my attention enough for me to click. Thank God for good men and strong men.. it's why we are here today. Thanks for the info OP!

Even more sickening is that a lot of the left has yawned over outright crooked cops like James Comey and John Brennan, and outright crooked DAs like Robert Mueller, while turning a blind eye and deaf year to a totally framed defendant like Michael Flynn.

Comey/Brennan/Mueller are 100% corrupt compared with the cops/district attorney in Minneapolis. In turn, George Flynn, etc, sure as hell doesn't have a spotless record the way Flynn does.

The left can take their BLM and Antifa, and making martyrs of scumballs A, B, and C and get the hell out of this nation. We don't need the inhumane, leftist corruptcracy they're so happy to create, and are creating.

I couldn't imagine for one second that somebody like Michael Brown, Travon Martin, George Floyd, Breanna Taylor, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, Freddie Grey, Eric Garner, Jacob Blake...etc.... would sacrifice their lives to save six people, let alone one.

Some of our institutions like professional sports have crossed the line of no return. These are signs of what is coming unless a miracle occurs.

Police violence? Antwon fled from a vehicle that had 10 minutes earlier conducted a drive by shooting. While he may have not been the shooter if he followed commands he wouldn't have been shot...

I in no way like police as I am currently facing multiple false Felony charges all because DHS spread false information to get local authorities to raid me. The initial entry team was around 7 mostly undercover officers all armed with rifles. I didn't even get thrown to the ground or harmed in any way as I immediately complied. I knew the reason why it was happening and it was bullshit that I would rather fight in court...

I just realized yesterday the 19th was the anniversary of the raid lol. I still ain't free yet though cause fucking COVID-19. I haven't been back to court since April ffs. Thankfully my case is at least now being reviewed by the ADA. Who will hopefully see that the original warrants were based on complete lies...

I wish there were more Alejandro Villanuevas in this world. I remember when this NFL kneeling shit started, He got in trouble for going out of the tunnel and standing for the national anthem. (the Steelers management had decided to stay in the tunnel during the anthem)
That made Me ashamed to be a Steelers fan. If He gets in trouble for this I will be more ashamed.
