Do they normally have September as Preparedness Awareness Month or is it a new campaign?

I think that's a US thing. Not heard of it in London, unless it's new.

Comments further down said it was a normal thing like i the US and they would send a tweet a day for 30 days or some such.

This may not portend anything serious is coming. This could be just routine preparedness advice.

Although I have to wonder where nearly 9 million Londoners could evacuate to in an emergency. The UK is not a very big place, and most of the surrounding cities, towns and villages could likely not handle the tide of refugees from London.

APPARENTLY this has been going on for years in the UK.. but its the first fucking time i've seen anything about it on the internet, facebook, twittter or any platform.

so anyone down playing this and saying it happens every year in the uk is talking shit and probably damage control.

There were regular posts about that dam awhile ago, but when predictions of it failing didn't come true, the people into talking about that topic lost interest.

The famous GLP Effect generally worked until the arrival of Covid-19. Don't know how that magic will work from here on out.

I have no idea how they have figured these numbers out but this is interesting....

Apparently certain agencies do use this as ref - "Deagel, a real intelligence organization for the U.S. government, predicts massive global depopulation (50-80%) by 2025. According to their own website, deagel.com, Deagel provides news and intelligence on international military aviation and advanced technologies."

UK - [link to deagel.com (secure)]

forecast for 2025 is 50 million loss in population, sounds nuts but most European and western countries showing huge losses....

These numbers have been up since 2014 so 1dunno1

Interesting. However, we live in an age of "trust no one, truth nothing."

2025 is just around the corner.

I at first thought that year was way more into the future than it actually is, but suddenly realizes, hey, this is 2020, not 2015, much less 2000 or 1995.

Damn Tess....this thread made me think of the 2 Suns in the sky thread I was reading earlier.

The whole Deagal prediction has always been a splinter in my brain for a while now. Since I've studied cycles for a while now, our planet is due for a few to come back around.

On a more practical note, everyone should have a go-bag. One in their vehicle, a mini one of sorts if you happen to work away from home somewhere, and one for home if you have to flee on foot due to no car/truck.

don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy.

I like to call it an "evac kit".

Someone said "be prepared to spend a night in the open" I thought that was a good place to start.

And don't forget documents including paper lists of phone numbers and addresses for a backup. What if your phone was stolen or lost and you didn't even have your parent's or kid's phone numbers memorized? I know very few numbers by heart any more. We all used to know dozens.

It kills me that Limeys refer to a flashlight as a 'torch'.

I have a 'torch'. It spews fire. Under pressure. It burns things. That is the definition of a 'torch'.

"The campaign
30 Days, 30 Ways UK is a preparedness and community resilience campaign which started in Northamptonshire 6 years ago. The campaign starts on September 1 in line with National Preparedness Month. The aim is to turn the idea of preparedness into a game and asks people to plan for a range of emergencies including fires in the home, power cuts and flooding.

The campaign will be taking place all over the UK, with local resilience partners such as the emergency services, local authorities, utilities and health, taking part to put emphasis local actions for each of the 30 key messages throughout the month."
