ALERT: Netflix Documentary "The Social Dilemma", Is a One-sided biased hit piece against 1st Amendment!!! CHANGE MY MIND!
So, after seeing many glaring positive reviews and ads (ironically on social media platforms) regarding this new documentary, I decided to watch it. Here are my findings and opinions/review on the subject matter:

For starters, for those who have not seen a trailer or have no clue what this documentary is; It is a compilation of interviews from former big players in the tech industry that is social media (FB,Twitter,IG, Pinterest, Google, etc.) giving their take on how something that was originally created to be positive and bring people together, has unexpectedly turned into something sinister and crippling to society as a whole.

The first 40 minutes or so had me agreeing for the most part with almost everything they were saying. They go into great detail (sometimes referencing and portraying a fictional middle American family) showcasing how these platforms have had less than desirable effects on society when it comes to the craving of attention and dopamine hits we receive from "likes", dividing families on social issues and in the home when it comes to quality time, mental illness as a repercussion of addiction, marketing manipulation through personalized ads, polarizing ones political affiliations, etc....with a main focus on how AI algoritms and highly developed programs are actually changing our behavior through extensive monitoring of our online behavior and interactions, and actually re-shaping and forming our own thought processes, new beliefs, and values/wants/desires.

A+ on the first 30-40 minutes.

Then...there was a shift...a very distinctive change of pace, platform, and objective.

The focus abruptly becomes a narrative of how fake news spreads quicker than "real news" through unregulated user submitted content on these platforms, and steadily aims at topics such as:

*Rigged/Hacked Elections - Trump/Putin/Collusion
*Conspiracies such as Fake Moon Landing and Flat Earth
*Pizza gate
*Coronavirus conspiracies - Mocking the possibility of Orgs and Govt's planning and facilitating
*Radicalization of political beliefs

And that such topics must be regulated, monitored, and content filtered through fact checking and censorship...under the guise that we as a population are SO easily brainwashed and steered towards believing falsehoods, that we shouldn't be able or alllowed to form our own opinions or do our own research, and ultimately concludes that discussing such fringe topics on public platforms are doing irreversible harm to our society.

As I became aware in the moment that this was happening, I was immediately turned off emotionally...and reflected back to the first 30 mins or so to realize that the verbiage, rhetoric, and demeanor of everyone being interviewed, were in hindsight strongly belonging to that of a left wing liberal agenda.

I came to a full understanding that what could have been a clever and somewhat witty breath of fresh air pertaining to some of our societal shortcomings, with emphasis and highlights on how most of the decisions we make (for those of us with social media accounts) are being orchestrated through these one-sided half truths...was in and of itself - Ironically a biased one-sided half truth hit piece - essentially just left wing propaganda.

I consider myself to be right of the middle...but certainly not an extreme republican by any means. I believe, much like the yin and yang philosophy, that there are elements of good in the bad, as well as bad in the good when it comes to comparing political agendas and platforms...however, I am also of the belief that there is a seriously abhorrent extreme left agenda being facilitated through our media and that there is social engineering at play...and that this "documentary", is simply just another attempt at their Orwellian double speak bullshit.

If you have access to it, I recommend you watch it. Not because I endorse it, but rather because it does make some good arguments for limiting screen time, (especially if you are a parent with young children)...but MOSTLY to expose them so that you can become familiar with yet another one of their hoodwinks, and know the tools that are being implemented by the extreme left against the minds of an ever growing easy to manipulate mass of population. Im sure this has millions of views in the short time its been available to watch...and because it rings truth in the beginning, it will get people questioning their own doubts and beliefs surrounding fringe or controversial topics.

It's a classic play in psychological manipulation. Speak undeniable facts first, that way when you spin your idea or agenda, it's more believable.

This started off good, but ended as absolute garbage in my book. Buyer beware!!!

Thanks for the heads-up. I was wondering about watching it.

Seems to be a common strategy to start out with truths and then pivot to The Agenda.

I haven't watched it. I've noticed a lot of hype - especially from my liberal friends posting about it on FB. Thanks for your summary and analysis.

Holy Shit, you triggered the shills.

Before I watched I knew there would be some one sided bullshit. I was surprised that it seemed to be pretty even and not bashing a political party. It got my attention, made me really open to the ideas being said, and then BAM the bullshit came in at the end.

This film did exactly what they talked about. It baits you and then they come at you. I feel like there was something deeper going on.

The left is very worried about being exposed.

The Social dilemma is an effort to shunt what they are worried about coming to light.

You know, that is interesting, because as a big advocate of Internet privacy and security, I was interested in what they had to say. But after the first half hour, they really had not covered anything I didn't already know, and I stopped watching it. It's too bad they went off reservation later.

As for "fake news" problems on social media, I consider it my responsibility as a viewer to confirm anything I see from an unknown source through other vetted sources, and this is a responsibility *everyone* should take upon themselves. The whole "I read it on the Internet" statement doesn't fly anymore. And by "vetted sources" I don't necessarily mean mainstream media. There are Twitter accounts of individuals I monitor because the information they post has historically proven to be reliable and factual.

Freedom of speech is an absolute guarantee of the Constitution, which means we are always going to have knuckleheads that abuse that right. It's up to us to verify what we see before "liking" or sharing on social media, because if you do so blindly, you are as much responsible for propagating a falsehood as those who originally posted it.

GLP is a perfect example of this. I find GLP to be one of the best sources of information available on the Internet. But I always verify anything I find on GLP with at least one other trusted source before I consider it valid. I also keep track of GLP posters who have a history of posting reliable, factual information, and they carry more weight with me because of that track record.

Typical. The left views anything that goes against their bullshit narrative as "fake news". They would like to censor all opposing thought, if they could.

The reason why so-called "fake news" spreads faster than their news is because the "fake news" is the real news!
All billionaires, banksters, and people in high-ranking positions of power (both public and private) who have not openly and strongly come out against woke ideology and globalism are our enemies - as are their minions. They are the NWO.

Your logic is flawed because you assume that all opinions carry the same weight. They most definitely don't. Just because someone believes the sky is green doesn't make them correct or their opinion valid. The problem is that when grouped together with other under informed individuals it creates waves of idiotic, dangerous movements like Q or flat earth. The film is just presenting the intentional grouping of these individuals for their own profits

WOW!!!

Either AC's are super pissed that they can't comment and are giving 1 Star ratings out of pure spite, to an otherwise great topic and thread - worthy of a much higher rating...

Or because of my involvement/posting with my other thread here- anything I now post is being monitored and immediately being dragged down to discredit/disinterest anyone from seeing/reading it in the first place-

Or- disinfo agents/bots have been deployed to locate specific threads on this subject matter that may exist anywhere online...and drudge it.

Either way, this is a blatant hit piece and you're seeing some kind of attack on the facts that I posted.

Or- disinfo agents/bots have been deployed to locate specific threads on this subject matter that may exist anywhere online...and drudge it.

Either way, this is a blatant hit piece and you're seeing some kind of attack on the facts that I posted.

Re: ALERT: Netflix Documentary "The Social Dilemma", Is a One-sided biased hit piece against 1st Amendment!!! CHANGE MY MIND!
They are trying to contain and control the narrative - much like I explained here:

i think this is a fake news story.

reason being, they want to make you think that social media impacts elections in a negative way.

they want to place laws against social media limiting it's impact on election outcomes.

claiming that misinformation damages peoples ability to vote correctly.

Agreed.

In the 2016 election, MSM, social media, etc was stacked against Trump. If you support Trump, the angry mob came at you, demonized you, called you a nazi, racist, sexist. Everything on FB was pro Hillary - all my liberal family and friends posted a constant stream of "orange man bad, gram 'em by the pussy" nonsense. Hek, I didn't even tell my family that I voted for Trump until about a year ago. The 2016 election was so contentious on social media that people who admitted to not voting were attacked and ostracized. As much as the left bullied, screamed, cried to vote for Hillary, to impeach Trump - they did not sway me towards their political stance. I'm not buying this fake argument that social media, FB, etc has an impact on election outcomes.

What? On Facebook alone you have an active DARPA AI designed to do just what you said wouldn't impact elections. The AIs only goal is to play interference for one side. Most people still using mainstream social media are normies who don't regularly visit places like this. The problem with most normies is they'll accept what's given to them because it's all they see. Point it out to them and the more curious start digging and see it for themselves. To say it has no impact is naive.

My 82 yr old mother only watches CNN and MSNBC. She will proudly tell you that she watches Rachel Maddow. She watches that garbage all day long.

She had FB for several years but deleted it because every time she posted a CNN or MSNBC story, her cousin (a Trump supporter) would post news stories contrary to what she posted. She called it "Russian news" - because that's what CNN and MSNBC reported. Smh.

My mom deleted her FB so that no other information can divert her train of thought away from CNN/MSNBC.

When she brings up Trump being a Russian agent, I don't even bother to tell her otherwise. She has absolutely no idea who George Soros or Antifa is or that the cities of Seattle, Portland and NYC are being destroyed. When i brought up the subject of Seattle, she immediately shut the conversation down saying "I don't watch Fox news". I tried to explain to her that she can find people posting videos of the destruction on YouTube but she doesn't understand what YouTube is. She's too far gone and I'm not going to upset my 82 yr old mother or argue with her over politics.
