Paprika is a registered trade name, must be grown and harvested in Hungary. Quoting: Emerald_Glow 2.0 That’s HUNGARIAN Paprika I make a great chicken pot with Hungarian SMOKED Paprika Layer Onion rings or slices at least 1-3” deep in a ditch oven so the chicken is out of the grease - use olive oil drizzle first Layer chicken legs and thighs tight on top to fill pot Sprinkle favorite spices and lots of Hungarian Smoked paprika Cook about an hour or until chicken done - remove from pan Add Sour Cream to olive oil and onions - about a cup or two (lots) Salt and pepper to taste Add more paprika if it’s not spicy enough and a nice rich color sauce Serve chicken with onions and sour cream That sounds awesome. We make other Hungarian family recipe dishes, but I have never done that one. I am going to have to make that for my dad. The legs take much longer because of the bone - keeps it cool Inside - sometimes I make with all thighs or even deboned thighs - meat falls apart warning ! Mmmmmmm An hour stove top Crock pot approved ! Last Edited by Theobromine on 09/21/2020 09:17 AM "What are you helping with all this helping?" Buddhist saying |

If you like to cook, somehow you can't go to the store to get a spice container of paprika anymore. Quoting: AggregateThreat That's because there isn't any, the shelves are bare. Turns out China has the corner on the global paprika market, controlling 70% of the supply, Xinjiang, China, to be exact. [link to www.americanthinker.com (secure)] What? India much? Go to an ethnic store or buy some online. My problem with paprika is it has to be fresh and it never is. I can taste the old staleness of most paprika. It's a pepper, yes? I'd love to get it fresh dried and fresh ground. |

I haven't looked for it in the stores lately, but I keep a lot on hand anyway. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage. Bought a bottle at my local (small regional chain) market yesterday. Who the hell would buy Chinese ANYTHING for ingestion in this day and age? More deplorable all the time. |

Quoting: Annie Oakley That's the variety I use. I get seeds from Pinetree Garden Seeds at superseeds.com They have very low prices but you don't get a lot of seeds, but 1.95 gets you 20 seeds. That is enough plants/paprika for most people. Last Edited by Doctor Congo on 09/21/2020 10:38 AM |

Myself, I prefer regular mild or sweet paprika. Glad to see so many Hungarians on site. Our family traced my grandfather on my dad's side all the way back to 1740. But, all records stop at 1740 in Hungary according to what I have heard. Supposedly there was a big fire that destroyed documents before that time. Last Edited by NOLAangel on 09/21/2020 11:52 AM |
