But republicans control the Senate, and can get a new justice appointed no matter how loud the Dems scream and kick their feet. And the Republicans are justified in doing so. Take the rhetoric out, they are following the Constitution and precedent. The reason garland got delayed is because the Dems didn't have control of the Senate, if they did he would have been confirmed quickly. Like when RBG got confirmed. She didn't have to answer a single question in the hearings, unlike Thomas and kavanaugh that got put through the ringer and accused of sexual misconduct during confirmation hearings. Like RBG said "the president is elected for 4 years, not 3". |

The common thinking is in dem circles for the last 4 years has been they can add as many justices as they want/need once they have the presidency and the senate. At that point, they are no longer an independent arbiter of the constitution, they are just cronies. |
