Any advice for a 26 year old right now?

The problem is that you have to understand how the system works in order to avoid becoming a slave. Those people were right - you need some kind of viable skills (trade) to get you going. Once you have experience you can start your own company.

Or, you can get enough education on certain subjects to be able to invent some new item that has a market. But you have to know how to source materials and how to sell it. You still need knowledge, in other words.

If it were that easy for a person to make it big without an education, training, job training/experience we all would be doing it.

Actually a really good thing to do is learn heavy plant mechanic / operating in the Army. Engineers. Corps of Engineers / Royal Engineers etc

Either that, or get ready to work in the oil field. It pays well, and you can get ahead, once the US opens back up, the demand will be great.

I know an Irishman who came to London in the 50’s with nothing. He now owns 120 houses around south London.

He was just a painter. He worked hard and got some contracts to paint schools and so on, because he could work fast.

Just get up early, work hard most days and choose a trade that people NEED.

Technical school or a community college, which is a 2 year college. Learn a trade and work hard at your studies. You'll do great!

What interests you?

We had a family friend who did the same. He started out as a painter. When I met him, he was around 60 years old and married to a family friend. By then, he owned over 100 houses.

His wife said she was tired of the bookkeeping and collecting rent from occupants. They didn't need the money from all those renters anymore. lol You would have never known they were so wealthy!

If you don't know what you want to do jobwise, or not sure even what you are good at, sign up with a couple of temp agencies. They will test you to see what you are capable of, and give you a variety of temporary jobs. You can try things on, so to speak, and see what you enjoy doing.

Stay busy. The anxiety and depression are time-consuming. If you keep yourself occupied externally, you will find that the internal conflicts quiet down.

Someone suggested CDL, that is a great idea. Commercial Drivers License... learn to drive the big rigs and see the country. You have nothing tying you to one place, so this would be ideal.

Good advice. Also , do not , I repeat , do not have children until you are financially stable . The rest is easy .

They are making it because of their networking skills (friends in higher places) and their fucking luck. I've watched this go on for years with blue pillars (reference to the second post in the thread).

Stay out of college, stay away from all the snake oil IT certifications, because it is getting crowded, I know I've been in IT for a long time. Certifications are basically ignored, people that do the hiring want to know what you can build or fix.

Military, I did it, I do not regret it
If you don't have any major health issues I say military.
If you're physically lazy, Air Force or Navy as it pays the same as USMC and Army, and you're much more likely to make it through boot camp. As long as you're not a Fk-up they will treat you good. And if economic or civil unrest SHTF, that is where you want to be, hands down.

If you are in decent physical shape, and you want a high-speed type of job, USMC or Army have a bazillion kick-ass options. I think Army might still have a 2 year sign up, USMC had a 3 year grunt option back in the day. I did 6 years, got out with GI Bill kicked ass in engineering school, graduated with zero debt. The discipline that the USMC instilled in me is now part of my DNA, you can spend that discipline like cash, anytime you need something.

Walk straight into recruiters office tomorrow start asking questions, don't delay, as you're getting older every day.

If military is not for you, then trades.

Whatever you do stay well away from media and creative industries. An absolute shower of back-stabbing shallow talentless cunts.

Getting up early EVERY day is easier said than done. I never mastered it until my late 30’s. If you can crack that early on, you’ll fly.

at this point, 26...take the opportunities that come your way if they are in line with your goals...l know, you don't have any..but yes you do....you know what you want from this life by knowing what you don't want from it...

Start by registering. Stop being an AC.

First, you need to take a real inventory of your talents, skills, education, etc. That might mean specialized career testing and mentoring from a local college. Take the time to really identify a good fit career-wise. A good academic advisor can help.

Where you start may not be where you end, so you just need to take the first step and get your foot in the door at a good company. Generally, the larger the company, the higher the pay, the more financially rewarding, and the more possible career options. Think big.

No one is going to hand you a successful career on a silver platter, so have a good work ethic and show initiative.

Secondly, set goals. Brainstorm a list in each category, setting some realistic time frames, and putting in place action plans to move forward. You should have career, financial, social, education, health, spiritual, and family goals.

Whatever your religious beliefs, if any, I would encourage you to get involved in your local church, etc. Take the time to develop your faith, whatever path that is.

My last piece of advice is to really be disciplined about your time and schedule. Read and study about time management.

And pray.. a lot.

Join the navy, learn welding or car repair, and make yourself valuable.

Invest in yourself. Learn to meditate, develop good habits, learn a skill, develop relative mastery of something. No amount of good energy is ever wasted.

If you want to travel the world like I have, being 7 your elder, yoga for body and mind may be good to get in touch with. It makes the 26,000 miles more comprehensible...

A) dump your 'friends'. You've lost sight long ago.
B) don't take advise from your parents. they obviously didn't put you on a path.
C) Suck it up buttercup. Go to a trade school like automotive or Heating and A/C.
D) get a dog and if you can manage that for a year, then consider a girl friend.

Ie. pull your head from your ass and focus.
