BREAKING: Seattle City Council Votes 7-2 to Veto Mayor and Defund the Police

You are going to whine about seattle cutting 1% of the police budget and call it defunding as though the police department was going to cease to exist? They have something like a $400 million dollar budget for christ sakes!

The SPD is notorious for being a criminal enterprise it should have had its budget slashed a long time ago. The council is just posturing, because they know that the dumb leftists will only read the headline and think that they won. The seattle council, and the council of every other major should do deep cuts on the police forces because they let the money slip through their hands like water. They should have cut 25% and said let this be a warning to straighten up your act or we'll re-assess again next year.

Gawd <1% cut and you people treat it like it is the end of the world you are afraid of your own shadows.

So they are gonna:


Cutting the police department staff by roughly 100 officers;

Eliminating the department's Navigation Team, which serves as an outreach effort to the homeless. The council voted 7-2 to override this budget bill, while voting 9-0 to override the other budget bills.

Trimming the salaries of SPD’s command staff.



Cutting the Navigation Team, means they're gonna keep on letting the homeless pitching tents and live anywhere they want in downtown Seattle. Not good.

I don't think it is a good idea. It does seem fucked up that if you look at what the top paid officers are making with overtime, it is insane like 300k a year.

The message is more important than the money in this case.

Cities like Seattle and Portland have broadcast it loud and clear that they won't be enforcing the law anymore. The cities are totally mad max shitholes now.

But how much will they slash from the 2021 budget??

I lived there and can tell you that Seattle has a serious BLACK crime problem! A lot of thugs and criminals walking around free.

So basically they want to turn Seattle into a CHAZistan.......

But I don't know how dangerous their job is, or how effective and irreplaceable they are. It all depends if they are worth that much. I know I wouldn't be a cop for $300,000 a year - fuck that.

It started out as some simple abuse. Then it grew a bit into "OK" abuse. Then it starts getting shitty. Then, it becomes city condoned. And before you know it, you're condoning anarchy.

Yes and it has always had a massive crime problem years before any of this BLM stuff cropped up and they didn't do anything about it years ago either so why in the world is anyone crying about such a pittance of a cut? They have a long history of being completely useless.

As with everything, liberals fuck up the value and integrity of everything, including public-sector officials and things like police departments.

I have no doubt there are versions of a James Comey, John Brennan or Peter Strozk embedded in the city departments of liberal cities like Seattle, so greed and corruption are running at a fever pitch. Liberal Seattle's DA office probably have mini-mes of Robert Mueller running around too.

I wouldn't mind a city council lowering the budget of a police department if they were expressly trying to come down on a lack of integrity and a lot of feather-bedding greed. But you think the liberals of Seattle's city council give a fuck about things like that?

We're over 3/4 through 2020 so they couldn't cut much.

The point is they have a huge axe hovering over the 2021 budget. The police chief made a wise decision to scram.

It's very easy out there. It's very far away from the rest of the country. It's a vacuum so to speak. I almost can honestly say I can't blame any of them.

The cops aren't useless, the cops do their jobs.

The trouble is the DAs and prosecutors and judges will never put away at least the worst 100 offenders, who are well known and do so much damage.
