Re: Sangay Volcano eruption, Ecuador
usgs doesnt show any quake activity for ecuador in the last week...strange
 Quoting: Hydromage

I've been getting the feeling USGS is being manipulated to not show certain EQ's recently.

Generally speaking, there's usually a sizeable EQ before a volcano erupts like this..

So that begs the question...is USGS not showing specific EQ's (i.e being censored) or was the volcano purposefully made to erupt?

The way the lava is flowing is really weird to me when compared to other volcanic lava flows.

i live in a quake zone and look at usgs several times a day....and given the theory of plate techtonics you would think there would be more activity along the plates...but the southern ring never gets quakes and most of the atlantic ridge almost never..and then only in certain areas...1000s of miles of plates comeing together and not producing so much as a scrape...i mean if the plate is moving you would expect quakes around its entire perimeter ...if the eastern edge is moving the so is the southern northern and western....but somehow those produce nothing.
 Quoting: Hydromage

Yeah that's not a very good feeling to have for a EQ monitoring site if you live in a quake zone or a place that's on the edge of a plate.

I'm going to say they are being censored at this point..only thing that makes sense in this day and age with everything going on.

Merely vague concepts ... their "reality" may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world, shaped by their beliefs?"

Re: Sangay Volcano eruption, Ecuador
I am writing this from Guayaquil, Ecuador using ExpressVPN.

Lots of Americans regularly visit this volcano. I've been there. It goes off regularly enough. It is dangerous, bit only if you are right up on it.

Otherwise, its an ash event for cities and vilkages to the west due to the easterly flow of the ITCZ.

Guayaquil got hammered with an ash fall that lasted until late afternoon Sunday. I was out in it. The stuff gets in your eyes, nose and mouth. It can be very unhealthy to breathe it in, aside from it being just damned irritating.

So far, six deaths...60 missing...7 villages destroyed.

No word if any deaths are from people visiting from other nations.

This volcano is very interesting and draws crowds. It's like Jurassic Park without any dinosaurs.

Any eruption reaching over 29,000 ft is a global cooling event. This went to 40k+.

Those people filming that stuff better be wearing a high level mask. That ash will cause one to contract silicosis which destroys your lungs.

I have never seen lava flow like that.

I hope the natives are going to be ok.

Me either. It’s very scary. I’m concerned about the rivers, tho ... verysad

I think the natives will be fine but not their crops... and they fish a lot in the rivers. My mom told me that the rivers are full of ashes.

We are going to need to have a large eruption with a ton of dust to cool the planet.

And the volcano released about 10 years of human caused CO2.
