Re: Asteroid 2020 SW Close Approach Time Lapse
Yes, a dot that represents a roughly 5~10m wide asteroid careening past Earth at thousands of miles per hour, missing Earth by less distance than our own geostationary satellites. I'd say that little dot is pretty significant.
 Quoting: Astromut

If that dot were, say, 50-100m wide, I'd be a bit more interested. Yea, it's still interesting from an astronomical standpoint, but it's not interesting for the average Joe Blow in a roller-coaster-thrill-ride-type way.

Re: Asteroid 2020 SW Close Approach Time Lapse

Here is a time-lapse of the images that I took during this morning's webcast as asteroid 2020 SW approached Earth closer than our geosynchronous satellites. Note that the telescope is tracking the asteroid based on its orbit at the start of the webcast. As time goes on, it starts to drift because the orbit is changing under the influence of Earth's gravity. The tracking software I wrote for the telescope uses simple two body methods and does not account for how Earth's gravity alters the orbit. Other software I use to analyze the orbit of the asteroid does account for that, but it takes more computational power than I'm willing to sacrifice for real time tracking and imaging purposes. In the end, I think it's pretty cool that you can see Earth's gravity having an effect on the asteroid within the video.

An amazing for you Dr. Astromutt.

In my real world life I don't have a problem with standing up to those with solid evidence of corruption from either side, of any issue or place. Many are they in this world that need to be rooted out.
That makes me a target to be destroyed by very powerful people, I understand this.
At some point we have to stand up for what is right before God. I have done this, lived this way, and will continue to do so till they finish me off or I croak of natural causes.

If you know what it took to make this video you would never post negative slop like this.

Thank you Dr. Astromutt for your hard work, dedication, and your help to get solid factual information out to those of us that appreciate your hard, informative, trustworthy,
quality, work.

Please don't ever stop posting your input here.

Seems like everytime there's bad news for the deepstate, space debris shows up to distract the sheeple. Then NOTHING happens.

Not at this distance and size. And it's not always observable from a given location.
