You know at the height of the roman empire... The ruling class.. Senate and the congress worried about the generals, commanders and others military leaders victorious in battles.. Returning in Rome,thinking and the people thrown them a big welcome back victory party... So there was ALWAYS a servant standing behind the victorious leader ears.. Wispering... Remember you're ONLY A MAN.. ONLY A MERE MORTAL.. LOL
So the victorious generals dont lose the plot and think they are invisible and godlike.

In Ancient Rome, a slave would continuously whisper Memento Mori, ‘Remember you are mortal’ in the ears of victorious generals as they were paraded through the streets after coming home, triumphant, from battle.
For some reason this thread remind me of the tickling of a roman general ego. Lol
