Since January of this year, I have gone through 8 Makita 5" disc grinders!
Been using Makita grinders for 25 years, and they usually last about 2 to 4 years each.
On each one of the 8 grinders, the motor shorts out, same problem everytime, just had that happen agin this morning, grinder is about 3 weeks old.
There is a possibility that they just make shitty grinders now, but 8 in less that a year seems uncanny to me.

Any possibility that my own bodies electrical charge is somehow shorting out these grinders?

It is possible, but I am not going to track down the literature as you can do your own internet research.

In your case, I would say that the Makitas have turned to garbage. You cannot run them very far from a power source. They overheat and fry the brushes. They need more ventilation also.

Seems like they have been making a loosh product, I only use the grinder with a 10 ft, long extension cord, an industrial use cord.
