My 18 month old Daughter has Covid 19

I would assume daycare. They just recently started allowing children to come back. Again I don’t believe this do be anything that will be life threatening. It’s definitely more than a cold or flu. She is sick, but also will recover.

How are you and the rest of your family? Any symptoms yet?

I have heard of very young children catching it, becoming moderately sick but then they are just fine by a week or so.

She will be just fine, understandable to worry though.

I haven’t had any symptoms at all and neither has her mother. I would assume if we are infected either we are in the incubation stage or just not showing symptoms at all.

No I’m the father , my daughters mother and I are not together

She has been running a low grade fever and being very clingy. We took her to children’s hospital and they did the test. Took a few days for the results but they did come back positive.

She still runs around and plays majority of the day, usually around night time her fever will start to spike and she wants to be cuddled. I was really surprised by the diagnosis because I was under the impression children here age wasn’t at risk.

I just worry because at her age she can’t really tell me what’s wrong. I also am concerned about any long term effects that this may have. I know this virus isn’t as fatal as they say but it still hits hard when it’s your own daughter .

I’ve been keeping her well hydrated and making sure she isn’t having any labored breathing. In a weak or so I’m hoping she will be over it

My daughter also had the virus (5yo). She had a VERY high fever that would not break for several days. At one point she had trouble walking due to leg pain. It then developed into a cough but did not affect the lungs.

My wife and I also came down with the virus. The first week it felt like death was knocking on the door with a very high fever and night sweats / chills. It then developed into a lung infection and serious cough. I was coughing up bloody mucus for a few days. The mucus lingered for several months.

It started in Dec 2019. This virus has been here for a while.

I think that it is important to realize this virus is real . I believe this is why the United States numbers are so high because so many think it is a hoax . Yes the death numbers are inflated . The virus is more than just a cold, especially to a healthy 18 month old little girl. Who up to this point has been very healthy. Also some of this comments are sickening, she is a 18 month old girl? I know this is GLP but some are you are just ridiculous.

Also because so many thinks the virus is a hoax they don’t take hygiene serious. Washing hands, covering your cough . Look I get it, you don’t like to wear a mask, neither do I but the mask isn’t for you , the mask is for the people around you . The sooner everyone gets on the same page the sooner we can return to somewhat normalcy.

Her fever got to 103. I also assume she has a headache. She has been very whiny and rubbing her eyes and squinting hard

My daughters was 104 for two days straight. We could barely break it with two different children pain relievers. We were staying up all night wicking the heat away with a wet towel. All the while we were both coming down with it ourselves.

It was hell. The virus is very real. I feel for you op, I really do. Nothing worse than seeing your child sick. I pray for a speedy recovery, and recover she will.

In hind sight I'm happy we had it. We were back to 100% in March or so and haven't worried about the virus since. We are back to our normal lives and fully confident we are now immune to COVID.

Her doctor made it sound like many children are getting it . The only reason they believed children wouldn’t be at risk because there wasn’t enough numbers as the time. Everyone is at risk, just some can have it and have zero systems like myself and others will get it and have symptoms like my daughter. This is very important because even though I have no symptoms I can still infect someone else.
