3913 has a safety. Double action with a safe decocking mechanism. Easy to load, easy to shoot, great for small hands.

M&P9 - comes in various lengths to suit your carry needs. Come with 3 back straps to match your hand size. The gun is very ergonomic and has various models with and without safeties built in.

Don't have time to get involved in this discussion, BUT...

Look into the Sig Sauer P365. Same size as the Glock 43, but it holds 10 rounds, and you can buy one with a thumb safety!

Glock is out b/c I want more safeties.

Springfield XD is out b/c she tried her brother’s and it was a bit too “blocky.”

Seeking suggestions. We’ve got two gun stores lined up for her to come in and try a few. I’ve got specific names to ask for — guys that have agreed to get several out for her.

We’re up for pretty much anything that she can carry (she is petite and has small hands). A Wilson Combat rig is likely too $$$.

TIA!

"Glock is out because I want more safeties"... re-read that statement.

THAT could be the most deadliest thing I have ever read. ONE: the SAFETY is your finger/her finger in this case. Firearms don't just decide to go BANG.

TWO: Hey, Dude's daughter reading this... DON'T listen to your Dad. When a bad guy wants to commit harm to you, you don't have time to ask him to wait while you unlock "all those safeties" your Dad wants you to have.

Get a good holster, not some POS $20, learn how to draw and get on target FAST. Thumb safeties are one more thing to remember when the heat is on.

Glocks and others are used everyday... DON'T listen to your Dad on this on.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75492300

there's very few "Billy the Kid" shootouts going on.

you almost always have advance warning that something
is coming. just review tapes of today's encounters.

situational awareness is worth 10X more than a "quick draw"
holster. In fact, a quick draw holster is indicative
of a lack of awareness, it's reactive, not proactive.

M&P9C comes with 12 round mags but will also take the standard 17 round M&P mags. They make an adapter that you can put over the 17 rounders to fill the space in 17 round mags.

to be clear, you're calling the decocker a safety, right?

personally I avoid decockers and never carry a chambered
round. I'm not a police officer and the odds of not
having 1/2 second to cycle the slide is far lower
than the odds of an accident.

Whatever gun that fits her hands. Then practice.
Alot.

Then practice even more. Make or model will never compensate for lack of training.

An s&w shield or Ruger LCP all day every day.

I have both and they're great girl guns.

They also make a380 and 9mm ez version that makes the slide manipulations easier.

Most importantly holsters aftermarket parts and etc are all available

Walther PPS, PPQ as small concealed carry guns.

There exists a small version of the P99 with smaller mag and grip that also comes with very decent safety features for less experienced or "stressed" users, not GLOCK wielding Pros that spent day on the range.

Walther P99-AS (Anti-Stress) series
The first round has a tougher trigger pull than the rest. Also you can uncock the loaded weapon with a simple push button, still fires when trigger gets pulled trough.
I like it.
 Quoting: ThePaleOne

Love my PPQs and I was tempted to mention them
but not sure the grip is small enough. They're
contoured so it's a different fit.

PPQ is my favorite these days.
They are very accurate.

Ruger EC9s... my wife carries it.

Don't get the LC9, you'll pay more and the only difference is on the EC9 the sights are built into the slide and they are not painted white.

Just add a white dot of paint on the sights if you need it and save some cash for ammo.

Here is a review from hickok45...

Smith & Wesson M&P Shield EZ is a nice shooting gun as well. I’ve never personally liked S&W semi-autos, until I shot one. Priced reasonably as well. Might want to find a local range that rents guns (if they do that where you live), and take a few for a test-drive. More important than how a gun feels in the hand at the store, is how it feels when it’s shot.
 Quoting: Rein20

I don’t have personal experience with the new EZ version of the Shield, but it seems like a good candidate. Another worth consideration is the Sig 239.

I opted for a Walther p22 in pink for my wife. Light small can decock then fire from trigger(double action) it holds 10rds+1 in chamber. Nice conceal carry option

Re: Need semi-auto 9mm handgun suggestions for daughter w/ small hands.
OP, I had the same issue involving my teen daughter.

Got her a Ruger LCP .380 but although it was perfectly sized for her small hands, the problem was the fact she couldn’t pull the slide back to chamber a round. She just doesn’t have the hand strength for the recoil spring.

I went with a Ruger SR22 for her. Slightly larger, yes, but the slide is incredibly easy to pull back.

Additionally, it has low recoil so trigger reset comes much easier for faster and more accurate shooting.

The other advantage is that 22LR is still in plentiful supply. If you get your kid a 9mm, you may not be able to find ammo to practice with it!
