In the winter of 1811-1812, when those 2 huge EQ's hit the NMSZ, the area was only sparsely settled...thus there wasn't a huge loss of life.

But TODAY, if the same size EQ hit, it would be absolutely catastrophic !!! Imagine ... bridges collapsing, Interstate highway overpasses collapsing, skyscrapers in the large cities along the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers toppling over.... OMG !! I'm praying this situation resolves itself without any seismic activity !!!!!!
