Because it's distorted. Everyone gets their little nugget of information and runs with it and eventually lies and adds extra stuff into it.

And Jung was trying to put a quasi-scientific explanation that we are all male and female and used anima/animus as this attempt.

Anima is the astral/mystic element of reality.
Animus is comprised of the cosmic laws, physicality, atoms, etc.

Why not just crawl back under the rock you slithered out from under and stay put this time

Now could you say that anima/"the feminine" represents a feminie approach to reality being the astral/mystical? Maybe someday in the future but right now, we're hundreds of years of maybe even understanding the entire universe in masculine/feminie terms. Was he still probably grasping at that idea? No. He was driving to divide and conquer the various "meta" aspects of humanity and thought it would be a nice friendly good/altruistic psychology approach to just say we all feminine and masculine thru "anima" and "animus."
