Got tired of the "where are the stars" complaints so I'm going to combine the two views if I can. I'll probably be told it's fake anyway. Quoting: Astromut Why does Mars get called the war planet ? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79463742 United States 10/11/2020 03:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There's a particular vantage point from which I want to get a picture of a total lunar eclipse when it's low on the horizon. I might not be able to wait for that, though, so a simple full moon may have to suffice. What's the terminology for how far north from due east the moon is when crossing the horizon from a particular coordinate on the earth, and is there a simple process or freeware application for calculating the compass degree at which it would be seen? I know where I want to be standing and the compass arc that would be fitting for the line of sight, I just don't know where to start in being able to calculate if the moon when at least near peak luminosity would be in that line of sight arc. |

Sounds like Stellarium would be helpful for planning such an observation. I created a spreadsheet for calculating things like the azimuth of the moon from a given location and time, but Stellarium would be more user friendly. Sounds like you are looking for the moon to be at a particular declination when crossing the horizon, resulting in a desired azimuth. |

I am seeing equally spaced objects in a straight line. Very colorful with binoculars. Shimmering red, green, purple, gold. Orion in the east looked like a satellite formation. Kinda freaked me out. I would like to remind everyone that it is not paranoia when they really are trying to get you. Looking forward to your time lapse footage of Mars. Cheers Pragmatist |

Cheers I'm not seeing much right now, but it very much depends on your location. At my location, they'll only be visible a little while before twilight and it's not time yet for them to be visible. |

I was able to follow it out to a distance of about 3 million km or nearly eight times the distance to the moon. Silly question, but if Elon had put some megawatt LED lights on it would that have helped? ANZUS Treaty 1951 - Aligned forever |

I could crunch the numbers but I'm a bit tired at this point. It's 4am here. |
