Hi GLP, my Grandfather translated an English version of the book of the dead
He translated a French translation of the Papyrus of Ani (Egyptian book of the dead).
He told me that he believed that is was originally written by Thoth.
He was a freemason.
He told me that the Egyptians and other ancient societies believed that the physical body had to be preserved after death. He said never get cremated.
When he died his coffin was filled with epoxy resin and he had some gold artifacts in there but I am not sure why gold matters?

All I know is death is not the end but the journey seems very confusing and most end up in endless wandering...

Wow, Wallis Budge was your grandfather?
Cool, he wrote quite a few books, mostly esoteric subjects, interesting man.

I was 11 when he died in 1982 so I didn't learn that much.
But my Auntie says he insisted that his body was to be prevented from oxygen thus the epoxy filled coffin!
The ancient Egyptians also had some sort of resin...

I think the premise is if you die and your physical body is not preserved for at least 49 days you will end up wandering around forever?
But even after that there are challenges...
