Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75329174 If your business is 107 yo, it doesn't mean that it should survive. Adapt to the times or die. Did they do online orders and delivery, for instance? Guessing you’re not in the New York City area. That restaurant is a real iconic landmark. Famous. And its demise is a real dagger in the heart for New York and a sign of more to come. |

NYC is dying. I know. I don't even want to know if John's Pizza on Bleecker is still open. Best pizza in the whole world. I love NYC. I suppose you know Percys pizza. I lived most of my life in lower Manhattan. We moved out in 2017. Things started to get bad. Wife no longer felt safe on the subway. I hope the wife city burns down. Fuck Democrats. I still love NYC *whole city |

Idiot -- these decisions are not made at the Federal level. Try to educate yourself. Trump says bad idea to shut down Democrats shut down anyway Case numbers hyped, low death rate, still shut down Businesses cant hold on being closed for over 6 months because a regular mom and pop shop doesnt have huge margins and probably has a couple employees to pay Business closes. MUST BE ORANGE MAN'S FAULT. OR EVEN BETTER "SHOULDVE ADAPTED" I FUCKING HATE PEOPLE WHO DONT UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF HARD WORK |

User ID: 79449875 Nicaragua 10/13/2020 09:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Should read: If Democratic Governors... Exactly. From the RT link: "What city in its right mind would turn up its nose at $11.5 billion, the estimated total spent by out-of-town visitors to the city’s famed theatrical productions alone? Why leave that money on the table, especially when the virus that had held the industry hostage for months has been steadily on the wane? With Governor Cuomo demanding billions in relief from the federal government to make up an economic shortfall that stems from his own policies, surely he can’t afford to keep the state (and its largest city)’s biggest draws closed down indefinitely?" This is what really grates on me. They created the economic disaster and now they want the Fed to print money to bail them out, leaving the US taxpayer with the bill (but they cannot authorize a second paltry $1200 check to Americans). |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79487853 I love to blast Trump too, it has become one of Americas most beloved past times. But I do have to wonder, how would Trump have "properly handled" this situation and still not have "tens of millions" unemployed. Or is your idea of "properly" handling this mean printing even more money and wealth redistribution? There was no way he coming out of this unscathed no matter what direction he took. Come on and take a free ride. |

Quoting: BRIEF Oh you mean like a few months of no business? Just because they lasted that long doesn't mean that they have a shit ton of money. NYC is an expensive city to be in, several months of paying rent and having no business takes it toll. Some businesses will be come out of this just fine, especially those that are able to work remotely. I'm actually loving the change, no loss of income and I work from home, which really means I work less hours. Depending on what happens within the next year we plan on traveling the country and working on the road. Come on and take a free ride. |

Financial advisors tell clients to make sure they have enough money saved to survive for 6-12 months without a job. Businesses need to have a similar disaster plan. After 107 years they didn't save a year's worth of disaster money? I walked past the Oyster Bar everyday for years on my way to and from the train and ate there many times with clients. Totally agree that it is iconic, as is the Roosevelt Hotel and their holiday decorations. Loved walking thru there every Christmas season. I was bummed when Carnegie Deli shut down and that was not from a virus. Change happens. But...if these icons are truly so important to New Yorkers then why aren't they DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT? The "thank you sir, may I have another" they are getting from Comrade Deblasio & Nipples Cuomo are killing their icons and livelihoods, yet they do nothing? It would not take much effort to resist the draconian policies of these two morons. |

Quoting: Lady Jayne Smith Other than that, liberalism is wonderful and beautiful. It gives me nicey-huggy emotions. Hey, Fidel Castro at least provided free healthcare. Stalin cared about the disenfranchised, Mao cared about the proletariat. Barack and Hillary were into our pain. So what's a little corruption and Arkancide along with that? Liberals care about people. Liberalism makes me feel wonderful and beautiful. |
