I've been through disasters, but never like this. It's never hit so close to home.

We have seen much of this beautiful state. You start to fall in love with these areas and regular them. The pandemic has limited a lot this year and now this... This is destroying habitats, hunting and fishing, history, homes, beauty, fun...

Heavy heart. Very very heavy. I'm not in cry mode right now but it's hard.

I can hear it. It's creating a sound like a trumpet and camp fire... Winds are about to blow up.

Are you between Loveland and the entrance to the canyon?

I'm just outside the first foothills. Couple miles from backbone.

Bad enough that the fire has made it that far east, but maybe the thinner vegetation and lack of big pines may help save Loveland. Just last year, it looked as though Drake and Glen Haven were still struggling to recover from the floods. The Estes Park angle is horrific.

Yeah i hope you are right. There hasn't been rain here since July, and in September there was one snow. It's just not enough. With the fire burning now for over 2 months, it's further dried out the foothills all the while leaves have mostly fallen. There are still many trees and structures in the area, but it is mostly open space and grasslands which are extremely dry. There was a spot fire from traveling embers so that tells me it can come into town. There might be some homes ablaze next to others that come out unscathed.
