I am surprised I'm not seeing this here so here it is.
This fire has been burning for 2 months. It's now the single largest fire in state history at 174,000 acres and growing.
It is affecting very historic locations such as Rocky Mountain National Park, CSU mountain campus, Pingree Park, Masonville, Estes Park, Glen Haven, Drake, Devils Backbone, Horsetooth, Palisade, Round Mountain...
It is breaking over the mountains and working its way down into west Loveland and Fort Collins as well as west toward Estes Park. These are highly populated areas and with wind in the forecast reaching gusts of 80mph+, i feel like we haven't seen anything yet.
I actually live in one of these areas. I'll let you know if i am evacuating and I'll see if i can provide pictures.
The pressure is changing so rapidly here it's affecting my hearing. I'm setting several alarms to try to get a nap in.
We're ready to go. We were 2 days ago when people were saying it wouldn't hit here.
Many friends are losing homes right now and hopefully no more than that.
Please say a prayer!
Updated. It grew substantially last night to 187,000 acres, probably more by now.
Winds kicking back up to around 60mph pushing directly east into town.
New fire just reported on hwy 7 north of Boulder as the fire to the west makes its way over the ridges. This is right off a highway in and out of Estes. Suspicious. Then they took that radio private...
