Gods chariots are very likely to be spaceships.
The 'rapture' saves those that are ready for the golden age ....beamed up to ships.
The "God" of the old testament is better termed a "manager" or "Lord" of the planet and likely a super-evolved Human.
Man has evolved and will continue to evolve in time. The life within man is the real "God" which we are to become one with. External "Gods" are guides to get there.
People that can't bridle their passions and be moral will not live into the golden age. It's a simple sifting out...very easy to understand. Those that are not ready to go to the golden age "die" and go to another realm.
there is no injustice in any of this. Those that are angry at "God" do not understand and they can't be taught differently, they will be moved to other places.
it's really that simple.

We no longer are barbarians worshipping the unknown. It's science, but it is also the etheral unknown which is the growth of the soul based on morality and humility. Humility is a hated word because it seems to connote weakness. Humility is strength and that is not taught by any science.
