Quoting: we're poor! 79330195 I need ideas and recipes for making meat stretch for a family. We already do soups, stews and chili. Great budget meals! I've recently added fried rice to the meal rotation, fantastic way to make a lot of food with very little. Plus my kids love it. You can also stretch a 1lb package of Italian sausage into several meals: take half and mix into pasta sauce for spaghetti, freeze the other half to use for homemade pizza. Any other ideas from you good folks would be sincerely appreciated! talk to local hunt clubs, they usually have venison they give away this time of year If you are not busy weaving your own magick, you are trapped in anothers spell. “It’s time you realized that you have something in you more powerful and miraculous than the things that affect you and make you dance like a puppet.” – Marcus Aurelius |

Should be easy enough to make at home. =================== Beans mixed with any grain give you the nutritional equivalent of meat...that's why mexicans have alot of beans & rice in their meals. |

Any other ideas from you good folks would be sincerely appreciated! Bulk up you meat with eggs and oats if you ground the beef or meat. This is a great way to increase the volume. If you just use oats, grind the Oats to a flour, to or you can soak the whole oats for a day so it breaks down into the meat for a nice blend. Hope all is well and works out :) |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79308786 United States 10/17/2020 07:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Had some cheap white rice, about 30 cents worth, can of fire roasted tomato chunks (49 cents), and can of pinto beans (59 cents) Adding some homemade biscuits or flat bread (50 cents) and for around 2 dollars with some spices thrown in you can feed a family of four! We made this, had some leftover the next day and threw it in a salad. Yum, the mixture tasted like their was meat in it, delicious, nutritious, and inexpensive, a win, win for sure. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 69401735 United States 10/17/2020 08:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76984449 The so-called elite will always eat meat. They will take it away from the masses because without meat we do get weaker. Especially children. Look up Weston Price. If vegan and vegetarian was so good they would be eating that way but they don’t. They know better. Humans are engineered to eat meat, as evidenced by their teeth. Vegetarian diets work OK for monks and nuns of various religions, but certainly not for growing kids or people working manual labor. The supplements vegans need to stay healthy are another indication that humans need meat for health. Meat was one of the first foods people had to eat, and has been with us for a long long time. People who do not want to eat meat for various reasons should not be coerced or forced to eat it, and those who don't want to eat it should abstain. Meat addict, I could outwork the lot of you & I am strictly vegetarian. Ya, smart humans let animals do the work....you go work harder rather then smarter. You've shown your intelligence. Body of an Ox...eating plants...sounds bovine to me. You didn't read the post I was responding to. |

Eggs with coconut oil and butter. Saute some spinach (nutritionally dense) add some bacon, you don't need a lot. Super healthy, paleo, low carb! Beat disease and stay full! |

I PROMISEyou that if you prepare it once, your family won'tknow the difference and be happy to eatit, and they are not hard to whomp upside their head or body. What could be easier? Lay some snares on a squirrel run by propping up a branch aftrer descenting your hands with soil and peppermint or sumac berry tea. They will fall for it routinely, but you need that meat hammer or else you got to slow cook them...so they are tender. All that activity makes their meat chewy. |

Everyone should tap maples and birches this year. Butnot everyone likes wintergreen and birch has that hint of flavor. You could use the latter as a sweetener instead of on pancakes. I made whole topics on this subject on eating frugally for a variety of reasons. You could raise rabbits anywhere. Heck you coud raise and eat guinea pigs as they do in Peru. Rabbit manure is perfect for the garden. |

It's old school ancestral knowledge. Hardly anyone knows that anymore as people got uppity and bought their maple syrup which is nuts as it's free. |

There is an endless amount of carp and the fish and wildlifefolks willlove you for eatin' them. Go hunt some feral hogs. Why not as they would be thrilled if you did.
