I tried many times to receive an answer in my teens as I was raised as a Christian and never heard anything. Ever since I realized recently I could completely silence my thoughts and thinking. I don't say God or any other name I just ask a question out loud with a silent mind. I don't even make it a yes or no question but an open question. Almost always receive a response after the question ends. It's usually just a one word response but sometimes it's multiple words. And it doesn't originate where thoughts it originates where thinking does...

However it immediately pushes forward like a slow moving wave towards my third eye and I don't start to actually hear it till it reaches there when I does I feel the pressure of my opened third eye increase. When that happens I start to hear it but don't fully hear it until it reverses course back to where it originated. During this time I begin to fully hear it and when it reaches to where it came from it fades away...

Also I believe what you say in the OP is true...
