Who remembers this kids sci-fi series from the early 80s?

Chocky - an alien consciousness (or an alien remote viewer) enters the mind of a 12 year old school boy called Matthew who begins to develop special abilities.

This was actually adapted from a novel from the 60s. It terrified the shit out of me as a kid, so I never got to watch the whole series, but just finished series 1. It was very deep, and something I’ve wondered about in the past — are we being observed by alien remote viewing civilisations?
