If 7778 people died per day, for the next 85 days, which is the general average, then 661,130 people more would die. That would put us at a grand total of 2,811,318 American deaths this year.

The problem is not that much the death rate. It is hospitals being flooded with people so sick that they end up in ICU. Take a look at what is happening in Europe at this moment. Hospitals in a lot of countries are at the brink of collapse as they cannot cope anymore with the influx of very sick people. The thing is: as long as those people get treatment in ICU, most of them pull through and will live afterwards (that's why you currently see that the death rate did not change too much compared to previous years).

But: when the hospitals are flooded and all ICU's are full, new incoming sick people won't be treated anymore, and in that case it is a guaranteed death and that's where you'll see increase the deathrate. But believe me: you do NOT want to end up in that situation as this also means that non-COVID patients also won't be treated anymore, surgeries will be postponed etc... etc... all adding indirectly to the increasing death rate at that point.

You are really a stupid f**r if you yell now that it is a HOAX: the impact is currently minimal because medical staff is still able to control it one or another way and by people following a minimal set of rules. Go back to normal as in: no more social distancing, no more mouthmasks etc... and I can guarantee you that within a period of 2 months, the healthcare system will collapse (again: check Europe: the whole of Europe relaxed the rules during summer as numbers of infected cases were low, and look where we are now, 2 months later).

And if you think I don't know what I am talking about? I'll give you this: an uncle of mine, very healthy, just died 3 days ago. In the initial stage of the infection, all he suffered from was something like a cold. After 2 weeks (!!) the virus started to hit back and he got problems with his lungs. He was gone in less than a week. He died alone in hospital as my aunt had to stay in quarantaine, his sons had to stay in quarantaine. Just imagine your father or another family member is in ICU, you know he won't make it and there's no way you can visit him and you know time is running out as, when the infection really hits your lungs, you got one or max. two weeks. And then it is game over. (And yes, believe me, we heard from the doctors he suffered a LOT). So think again before calling this a hoax. Get informed and interpret numbers and the consequences of certain numbers in a correct way and learn to extrapolate what current numbers mean for future if there's no attempt to get the number of infected people under control.
