Quoting: Don Draper from Nantucket Thanks for the reminder! We lose an hour. We lose an hour of daylight at in the evening, and gain an hour of daylight in the morning. I'm more attuned to the natural position of the sun, so even on the last day of DST, which is today, I still have a sense of one hour being ripped out by Daylight Saving. I always feel like the clock is running too fast when DST begins either in early March or originally in April (previously late March). By contrast, I always feel like I have a bit more time to do things under Standard. Sure, maybe the sun sets earlier towards the end of the year, but most people are into some type of lifestyle where they're dependent on artificial lighting in a store or gym, or from a TV monitor or laptop screen regardless. |

I am lucky to have a sweetheart wife who really has held us together. I am starting to get angry...every neighborhood around ours has had power for at least 24 hours now |

Animals, say livestock, don't live by clocks but by when it gets light and gets dark. They, like you, feel attuned to the natural day. try getting chickens home to roost before dark. Or telling a rooster to crow an hour later or earlier! Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face – Thomas Sowell |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76921541 Moldova 10/31/2020 10:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I hate it when it occurs in the early part of the year when I lose an hour of sleep. When I have to do everything an hour sooner and faster. That pisses me off. To me, DST is like a time version of taxes and the IRS. In the case of the DST time change, the government rips off an hour from my 24 hours, just like the way withholding taxes rips off part of my salary. |

They should change the rules and let everyone wake up when it gets light and get to work within their normal prep and commute time. Then go home whenever it makes sense. Also, this should reduce the insane traffic rush hour. And get rid of all those school buses. Cost too much and clogs up the roads. Kids should be learning on the internet, with some self paced accelerated online courses. Justme |

Reported to work at 8 am and still dark in the northeast. The offset was we had an extra hour of daylight in the afternoon. So do you want an extra hour of daylight in the early morning or the early evening? Meaningless to me, but the bi-yearly clock change is a pain in the butt. |

Studies have shown that forcing people to wake up an hour earlier when DST starts in the first quarter of each year does correlate with an uptick in heart attacks. When clocks are set back to Standard, as will happen tonight, no associated health ailments are as apparent. Daylight Saving Time not only doesn't save energy, it's also not good for human health. Standard Time should be the rule, not DST. |
