Quoting: Seer777 People who are caught with hard drugs have the choice to pay a fine or go to treatment. Not jail for possession. It's literally in the second sentence below the headline. Instead of going to trial and facing possible jail time, a person would have the option of paying a $100 fine or attending new 'addiction recovery centers'. [link to www.dailymail.co.uk (secure)] You get caught with hard drugs there are still consequences. Clearer now? Good. Prosecution from the same DA’s that we’re allowing arsonists, vandals, rioters and provocateurs to get off Scott free. Sorry but I do not believe there are any consequences. And we are talking about what used to be felonies, now just a 100 dollar fine or treatment? What happens when the treatment centers are overcrowded? They have not prepared for this, not surprising considering who is in charge in this state. The centers are being funded through the state marijuana revenue. We can play the whatabouts, and whatifs game all day. Your title is misleading. I fixed it for you. Holy shit It’s going to be worse than San Fransicko I’m glad I spent time in Portland while it was good Decriminalized, not legalized. Yeah So junkies can lay all over Portland now homeless shooting up heroin and snorting up meth without a care in the world And it’s going to be a magnet for other homeless junkies to go there by the tens of thousands It will be apocalyptic Oh I have no doubt about that. Small businesses that already have had to spend weekend after weekend, rally after rally boarding up windows and keeping the homeless off the front door steps, will never be able to quell the tide of drug addicts now. Getting arrested gets expensive real quick and can doom people to the crushing cycle of poverty, and with a rapsheet, be impossible to get out from under. We all make dumb choices when we were teenagers..the long time addicts dont see jail as a deterent. I hope it works. We'll know in 3 years or so if it was a good choice or bad choice..or maybe a mix of the two. We can disagree and still be friends here. It would end all property crimes and identity theft. They just need to designate an area for them away from everyone else. |

I'm here to tell you the one's in place, mandated by courts etc. are largely ineffective and cost a crap-load to keep running, especially in Covid times- people which are heavily addicted require more than some group meeting once or twice a week, they will need inpatient- and that cost a fucking fortune. Even the outpatient ones use piss-test drug screening, which will keep most from ever willingly attending these things. |
