Several researchers point to two things that caused the bacterial pneumonia
1. Aspirin overdose (proved decades after the event) causes prostration, increased wetness on the lungs and represses cough reflect. Increased wetness plus less coughing sets up the conditions where normal bacteria multiply rapidly. === bacterial pneumonia
2) soldiers being vaccinated and breathing out the bacteria in the first place
