I never watched it while it was on. It ended in 2018 after 5 seasons. I've been catching up on it, and the last few episodes of Season 2 talks about a cure to the virus that brings the world down, being one that is designed to spread person to person.

I'm not sure (haven't seen enough) to know whether it works or not, but this "cure" works by reprogramming DNA.

These season 2 epistodes were from 2015. It's spookily prescient, as well as being a good look at what could happen if COVID was worse and spread quicker.
