If that's true, they'd still be somewhere. I'm glad they are with me and not elsewhere.

OK. Not sure what your beef is with children. If you care to elaborate, fine. Otherwise, sit and stew in your miserable attitude. It makes no difference.
I'm saying what a waste you had children. It's not that hard to figure out. Everyone here does what they do so their children will be okay, including some very morally questionable things. And in the end, it was all for nothing.
I was raised by a very pious mom. She still is. And her mom was a saint.
But I've always been suspicious of religion - all religion - both the heaven/hell religions and the reincarnation religions.
I've always felt that TPTB invented and pushed religion on us so that we would ignore what they were doing to us in this life, in hopes of the promise of Heaven, or a better next life.
Meanwhile, they are living this one life we all have to the max, without a care in the world, extending it as long as possible and sucking up all the resources while others have very brutal, short lives ... often directly because of their shenanigans.
TPTB live as if there is no consequence at all, while imagined consequences on the rest of us.
This brought me to the conclusion that TPTB know something that we don't, and it's one of two things:
a) This is the only life we have - none before or after - we came from the Earth, return to the Earth, and we better make the most of it, because it is the most precious thing.
or
b) They know the secrets of reincarnation and this is a trap.
I frame life decisions with this logic.
It leads me to try to enjoy this beautiful Earth and my relationships with other humans either way.
The only reason I kept reading this thread and became so impressed with the OP was his ultimate conclusion ...
if this is true, the goal is still to live a long and peaceful life, and everyone should.
