It really struck me the other day how different attitudes are today from what they were just a few decades ago. For 99% of our history each generation only changed a tiny percent from the last. Maybe a new hairstyle or music but attitudes remained the same and institutions endured. 5% or 10% were thought to be big changes but this last generation is easily the most fundamentally different.

We have seen the church, schools and media altered radically. Young people have no knowledge of history, been taught disdain for it and our institutions. Religion is passe, patriotism is tied to "white supremacy" and worst of all is their ties to media of all kinds. Social media is the primary means of contact - especially now. Messages are easily controlled and censored. They would be lost without it - it is their reality.

They don't know how to live without electricity, grow a garden, hunt or fish, weave a basket or change the oil in their car - all stuff everyone in our generations knew. It's not their fault, they have been under assault from every side. Even the Boy Scouts - one of the last good organizations for young men is dying. There is no decent tv or movies with morality.

Look at who "succeeds" in our society; lawyers, politicians, actors - all paid liars. Teach that deception equals success and it's not surprising people resort to it to survive. We have fucked up badly folks by not training our young with the correct morality, work ethic and education required to know their place and duty within it. Now we're paying the price but will they learn anything from it?
