Their was a time when Americans were very squirrelly about Catholics holding political power in the federal government.
Now seems like no one could care less.
Quoting: Parallax Error There was some controversy in the late 1950s about the Catholicism of Kennedy. Which was dumb since secularism and religion take a back seat to ideology. For instance, look at today's Pope Francis in the Vatican. He's way more of a leftist than he's anything else.
