Dominion Voting Systems have their HQ in Canada. They are only used here for municipal elections in some large cities. They are designed to provide instant results at the end of voting. If the city does an immediate hand count of the ballots, any manipulation of data would be immediately evident. It is only if the systems are used improperly that they can be used to rig election.

They are not used in Federal or Provincial elections.

If this is actually true, there is a very good reason why they would leak the info in advance of the ops. They want to see who runs, and they may have easier opportunities to scoop up their targets at that point.

That's interesting, and perfectly believable. I graduated from HS in the late 70s, and remember "Armed Forces Day" at my school, for those of us not going to college. Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force each had a recruiter speak and then were available to talk to.

The only one I really remember was the Air Force guy. He was a mid 40s guy with a bit of a gut and several stripes. Someone asked all of the recruiters what their bootcamp was like, and I remember the AF guy saying "It's like a 3 hour gym class."

I think he got a few recruits with that, especially if he spoke right after the Marine!

I ended up doing Air Force ROTC in college, and LOVED IT. Visiting bases, going on demonstration flights in tankers and supply aircraft. It was awesome. I transferred colleges after my sophomore year, and my new school didn't have AFROTC, so I ended up wearing a white uniform after college :-) The school didn't have NROTC, either (small school), so it was AOCS for me after graduation.

Had a college buddy who did a Marine Corps program that was kind of like ROTC, and he ended up a career Marine Officer. We stayed in contact, and when he met my wife, the asshole actually introduced himself to her and told her he was in "the Navy's MEN'S DEPARTMENT. Asshole. :-)

Are you in Canada? You go to the incumbent party or the previous runner up party in your constituency and tell them that you want to be a poll clerk in the next election. You will earn $250 on election day. You have to stay there after the polls close and count ballots. If the polls are open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, that means you will be working for 13 - 14 hours total.

If you want to scrutineer for a party that came in 3rd last election or for a never contender like the Libertarians or Greens you will not get paid. They still have to let you sit with the poll clerks and look over their shoulders. The party of your choice will provide you with documentation.

edit: I see that you are in Timmins, ON. Your MP is an NDPer, Charlie Angus. Go to his office or the office of the Conservatives before the next election and they will set you up at the nearest polling place to your home.
