Of course they will have issues with the islands sinking and settling. Will it be enough to make them unusable features? Absolutely not. They will just pile on more fill and repave as needed. Do not think for a second that these islands will not be used as long as the world allows them to be illegally occupied.

Those artificial islands would be the 1st thing to be taken out in any China Sea conflict. They would be better off having those islands falling into the sea than being sunk.

I have been a part of opening offices in Beijing and Hong Kong. HK is one thing, doing work in Beijing is like putting together things with yarn, tape and chewing gum. It's soooooo ghetto it's funny (when you don't have to worry about it anymore). All the workers are on their phones the whole time, with 20 charms hanging from them. They all go to these "flea market" type places to mod their gaming consoles to play bootleg games. Every corner is cut, everyone is paying people off, i am surprised more buildings don't just fall down there but honestly if they do the news could and would NEVER report on it.

I hired a tour guide one day and while we were driving around he really opened up. Talked about SARS, etc... and saids 10,000s of more people had it but they were taken away and no one ever reported on the people or the numbers. he smiled and said that the party can control diseases there easily, they don't report it, kill people who do or the people who have it.

Whenevr i think about war with China, i can't help but picture the cut corner guys in the lower level roles and all their equipment just being pieces of shit.
