Wow OP, your situation is almost identical to mine.
I had it, and my girlfriend who lives with me never caught it either.
I originally thought I caught it as work, but no one has it and none of my co-workers I was in close contact with the 2 weeks leading up to my getting sick has it either.
It's very strange!
