Have you seen 2001? Obviously not. That is not what the monolith looks like in the film or it's sequel.

Something like this doesn't go unvisited. There has to be a secret society that meets at the obelisk regularly. The locals know who they are.

It stands in a small box canyon, NOT on top of a plateau as depicted on google earth...FAIL!

I expected the obelisk to be wide and thin, but the length and width seem to be identical. And it apparently made of stainless steel since it is shiny and unmarred from decades of exposure to the desert.

It took some serious money and skill to build this thing.

Disappointed that there wasn't any writing on it.

Except those screws on it, on both sides from top to bottom.. :D

Didn't know Americans ever cared about Art at all..Shocking they are going crazy over a basic metal sculpture left in a scenic spot.

Must be culturally stunted if a public sculpture is such a big deal to them.

They are deprived of art and culture in USA.
