They just remodeled our Walmart, and thought it was weird, as it's not that old, and so now they have the gates when you come in, and so you can't go back out unless you go through only one check out area, so creepy.

If you try to go back through the gates an alarm goes off, so what say you GLP, whatever could we need to be choraled in one and not go back out.

Honestly, I felt pretty trapped. There were 20 people in line, which I didn't expect, and didn't really need the stuff, so that's when I realized, you can no longer just walk out of Walmart, one way in, one way out, creepy.

Walmart is F'd up, I went in yesterday to send Christmas money to my kids, just as I have for every Christmas, Birthday or emergency for the last 7 years. Just so happens I needed to renew my drivers license and in MO they stamp void on your plastic and give you a paper version (with pic) until the state sends a new plastic. So I tell the lady I need to send money, cash in hand, she pulls it all up on the screen, all the info is there and then she says (as always) I need to see your license...then she informs me that I can't send money without the plastic version, no other form of ID will do, not even my passport. I can cash a check and they will give me money without a license, but they won't let me send cash (that's the new sign she showed me) I said are you serious? yep, now I have to find an alternate way to get money to the kids...I was SO ticked off. NOTHING Walmart does any more surprises me, can't wait until I live somewhere that I don't have to go in another one

According to that article, Walmart is in the process of redesigning 200 stores "with an eye toward combining shoppers' digital and in-store experiences."

Basically, they are going to get people to use the Walmart phone app...drum roll...while they are in Walmart.

So while they aren't quite doing it yet, and the article doesn't come out and say it precisely, the 'choke point' exit sounds like they are anticipating cashierless checkout as part of the design.

The designs still have checkouts for now, but it sounds like they are planning to eliminate cashiers and even self checkouts. Eventually you'll just walk out the door through a particular funneled pathway and maybe eventually they won't need that even.
