Animals have instincts that guide them. When a female is "in season", she's aware (in a general way) that something's amiss. She smells different, too. Be nice, now. Her estrus scent triggers a nerve or two in the male, and that's where instinct takes over. I'm not sure if this applies to humans. I wasn't around when Neanderthals were in vogue. Maybe they had instinctual programming, too, but I wouldn't bet on it. I think it's more plausible that they saw various animals doing strange Siamese stuff and were inspired to do likewise. Once the boys discovered that it tickled, they decided it would be something they'd like to do fairly regularly. Nowadays, humans have cultural programming working in the species' favor. Alas, we're actively trying to edit the program. The idea of boys and girls mating is so . . . unnatural. It's an option, sure, but boys and boys and girls and girls and boys and pumpkins and girls and rutabagas are all equally normal configurations. Which doesn't bode well for the future of the species. |
