When I was a young boy my stepdad bought a handmade 1800s six shooter with finely carved grips made of rare wood. Had a small wooden box created to fit. I was fascinated. I'd be too nervous to own a guitar that expensive... I got a great deal on my strat. I put a small dent in it once.. Didn't have a heart attack... Still bugs me though... Yeah that Martin guitar did appear very frail. It wasn't like those legendary medieval violins that can still take a hit 500 years later. The best violins came from the time period of the mini ice age. The tree rings in the trees were very tight because they didn't grow as much as they normally would. The wood used to make those violins had a superior sound because of it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40298448 The key work there being freedom of course. You're right. I didn't expect this to be such a deep topic. I value very few things in my home, I don't really care about them. I have an attachment to that knife, it means so much to me. She picked it out and gave it to me. Drums and stands can easily be replaced if they get stolen, but cymbals are unique individuals, and it takes lots of time and effort to find ones you really love, and putting together sets of cymbals that blend well and sound good together, and that fits the way you play. Trying to find the perfect cymbals is like a quest for the Holy Grail, so when you find a really good one you hold on to it. |
