I read both engineer firm letters and it seems they had noticed additional load on the cables just before collapse and that’s what triggered the drone inspection. Calm day, no ground shaking, so the static loads were just too much for the remaining 3 original cables left. |

A total replacement or reconstruction of it? I know bridges like the Golden Gate have to be constantly coated in paint to prevent corrosion from occurring. I'm guessing the same thing would have been necessary for Arecibo's cables. |
