All this house flipping is what is driving prices and property taxes up. There needs to be a law against instant unlimited flipping

We have a garage refrigerator from the 70’s, olive green and happily chugging along with zero problems. It came from my grandparents house. Our in-house refrigerator is 2 years old and already has problems freezing on the ref coils. Always vacuum around and under, every week.

You think that's bad? Try getting a beef butchered locally. All booked until 2022.

If you have an old refrigerator, DO NOT unplug it for an extended period of time. And if you move it, DO NOT tilt it on its back or side. It may never work properly again after doing these things.

Unplug it, keep it vertical, maintain it, and plug it back in ASAP.

I had the same experience about three months ago. My refrigerator died. The only thing we found in stock was from Lowe's for an overpriced 'smart' refrigerator that we paid way too much for and will never use all of the features but we were desperate.

Try a restaurant supply store. We tried to find a freezer last March, and could not find anything within a 200 mile radius. Called restaurant supply store and picked-up a new chest freezer that afternoon.

Nothing any where op. Just left the hardware store and its sickening to see hardly anything on the shelves. Even my local cooperative is bare bones.

You're right, and I just did this. I also replaced the defrost thermostat and the cold control. Now my 5 year old Kenmore over-stove microwave quit heating. The hunt is on!

While preventative maintenance should always be performed to extend the life of your appliances, there is no shortage of appliances in my area.

Just checked Nebraska Furniture Mart and my local Lowes, they have plenty of all major appliances in stock.

Maybe it's having been homeless for long stretches of time in my life, but this doesn't worry me in the slightest. All you "preppers" should have dry, canned, or perishable-resistant foods. Let's be real, as long as there is potable water it isn't the end of the world.

The only people who actually NEED refrigeration are diabetics because insulin must be kept within a certain temperature range. Everything else... Popsicles, ice cream, frozen foods... C'mon people, we don't need those things. Even meat can be salted/smoked and preserved, it doesn't have to sit in a freezer.

Bottom line, these "appliances" are luxuries. You may complain and feel bad if you don't have them, but the people who built this country -- and humanity for a million years -- did just fine without them.

Food, water, family, knowledge... These are the most important things. Maybe medicine. And God if you believe in God.

because people are stuck at home, so they make the home nicer. i am a remodeler, builder. phone hasn't stopped ringing, out of control. also the prices of materials is way up, 1500$ increse on the 20 window job were at now, also our supply company forgot or something on the 6.25 tax on 20k. its like 3k more then 6 months ago, or 15%.

Been buying longer lasting, inexpensive, older models for decades! Give the used appliance guy your business.
