Anybody baking today?

We are hoping to do a few batches, 7 layer bars, peanut butter kisses, and maybe a batch of cut outs.

I've done tea cakes and chocolate crinkles so far.

We have a family cookie exchange going on since we can't all be together and I am hoping to send some nice variety to the college kids.

Also mini rum cakes..King Arthur Flour (the BEST) has a recipe for 'Carribean Rum Cake' that is the bomb.

Plus, the cook gets to sample everything to make sure it is of the utmost quality

I have 4 teens/young adults and am really trying hard to bring some joy into this month for them. It's been such a difficult year.

We're all just muddling along this year. Banana nut bread sounds awesome. I still use my mom's recipe from the Fanny Farmer cookbook. I love to cut off the heel and slather it with butter while it's still warm..cook's treat!

YUM! Did the bread putting have rum soaked raisins in it too?..do they still even make that rum raisin ice cream?

I made these maple glaze cookies yesterday that were so good.

And I made reeces pieces cookies too but I couldn't eat those.

I've got some mexican vanilla that makes all my cookies so delicious.

Canadian maple cookies? do share the recipe? We used to tap our trees, but I've gotten lazy in my old age.

And what went wrong with the reeses cookies? or are you just not a pb fan?

Real vanilla IS so much better! I have Penzey's double strength and I found a bottle of Neilsen Massey on a clearance shelf and snapped it up, but I haven't opened it yet. No imitation stuff here..plus do you know what Castoreum is? bleargh..

I'm making kitchen sink cookies. Toffee pieces, chocolate chips, white chocolate, and sea salt.

I love raisins on their own but can’t seem to eat them in things like bread etc I’ve always left them out of baking

I like them if they are soaked first and have a lot of flavor..or chopped up into smaller pieces.

Rum is pretty nice. or a little orange juice if you are putting them in something like cinnamon raisin bread.

ooh! Do you put the salt in the cookie or just a little sprinkle on the tops when they come out?

I am all in, a drinking and baking buddy, what more could I ask for. LOL I was thinking of making rum balls, I have some 85% dark chocolate wafers to use for something.

Now you've done it OP. You've made me want to bake some cookies.

My grandchildren are older than that so I get away with a double shot of rum in the rum balls.

I also have some kids to make happy; making up for the upside world that they got tossed into. A H.S. Senior, cheated out of sports team, remote learning, and only kid left at home, has a bad need for some GREAT COOKIES!
