And, metal build up in the brian is found in Alzheimers patients. Unusual amounts, which were not fueled by naturally occurring foods that our digestive nature process. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79441378 i guess its possible that cereal manufacturers are adding magnetite. You can't process ANY material unless it is BIOLOGICALLY entrained. Yes, when they introduced FORTIFIED cereals they were LITERALLY IRON FILINGS in the BOTTOM of your cereal bowl. What a bunch of idiots. If you eat ANY processed foods, you are suicidal. If you drink TAP water, you are suicidal. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78981486 United States 12/06/2020 01:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have done some research, and though I was about to go off about how aluminum is worse for the brain, I've come to the conclusion that yes indeed an excess of iron is awful for it too. Iron comes in a few oxidation states, which basically boil down to "how much oxygen can it bind to" at a time. Individual iron atoms can be in one state or the other depending on what it's attached to. In the human body, this state is usually iron (II). Furthermore, the body has natural pathways to reduce iron, or reduce "how much oxygen it can bind to". Magnetite is a combination of two different oxidative states of iron. Its molecular structure is an ordered structure of 1 Iron (II) atom, 2 Iron (III) atoms, and 4 Oxygen atoms. Iron in the body is usually found either bound to a storage protein ferritin, in red blood cells as hemoglobin, or in the nervous system. Where iron is found in hemoglobin, it is used in its iron (II) state; whereas in the nervous system it is found as magnetite. To this date there is no central scientific working theory for why the magnetite is there, but this thread may actually be pointing to an idea. In animals, there is no identified active pathway for getting rid of iron once it's taken into the body. The few ways of shedding iron at all are either very slowly via various excretory systems (defecation, sweating, etc.) or very quickly via blood loss. The problem of excess iron becomes very apparent then when talking about "fortifying" foods. The iron shavings that are picked out of food using magnets are usually, if not always, powderized form of magnetite. The human body's digestive system can break down this molecule into constituent compounds through the use of low pH via stomach acid. The absorption of these iron ions after dissolution depends on regulatory factors however. Although the rate of absorption may vary, it is not yet known if the body ever fails to absorb iron if it is introduced to the digestive system. Some conclusions about dietary iron can be made from this dumb synopsis that I will not cite because screw you. First, we do not know what the hell the magnetite in our nervous system is doing. Second, we have no active metabolic function that reacts to decrease our iron levels if we have too much of it. Third, iron is actively used in its iron (II) sate in hemoglobin. Therefore, we can make a hypothesis: If magnetite is constantly being taken into the body in the form of iron shavings, then does constant supplementing with iron filings cause an increase in the amount of magnetite found in the brain? Then later, if magnetite is only found in the nervous system and serves no function, then is it just the natural outcome of excess iron intake-- a way for the body to get rid of it? And finally, is Alzheimer's disease the outcome of excess iron and metal storage in the nervous system? |
