They say witch, but honestly it ain't that. It's a late medieval song about using herbs to make an unrequited romance work. It's a requiem as he died young and so the situation is hopeless. A long time ago, healers were apothocaries who studied herbs and even bravely tried that on themselves. Anyway, they also noticed the mental effects of scents on people to lift moods. Today we know certain scents like rose oil locks in memories in the limbic system so it ain't just folklore. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78629642 Sarah Brightman does a really nice cover of the S&G version: She was good but I still like the original better. I still like hearing other people cover good songs if done well. Thanks for the video. |

It rather is a several hundred year old romantic tragedy unfolding and repeating through generations especially to war widows. |

There will be a partial ECLIPSE OF THE SUN in 48hours in the "medical constellation" called: "Ophiuchus" as is reported on "Earthboppin" site: [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] [link to www.astronomytrek.com] The Total Solar Eclipse of 2020 Dec 14 is visible from the following geographic regions: Partial Eclipse: Pacific, south South America, Antarctica Total Eclipse: south Pacific, Chile, Argentina, south Atlantic [link to earthboppin.net] The Mythology, Constellation Ophiuchus OphiuchusThe 13th constellation on the zodiac belt Ophiuchus, honours the ancient medical healer known by the Ancient Greeks as ‘Aesclepius’ and Egyptians as Imhotep. Aesclepius, the son of Apollo and the mortal princess Coronis, was raised and mentored by the centaur Chiron, who instructed him in the art of medicine. In time, Aesclepius became famous as a miracle-working medicine man, and was later given a magical healing potion by the goddess Athena made from the blood of the snake-haired Gorgon. However, Aesclepius offended Zeus by using the potion to raise the dead for money, and therby upsetting the natural order of the universe. He was subsequently killed by a thunderbolt from Zeus, who later acknowledged the good Asclepius had achieved during his life, and so placed him among the stars as the constellation Ophiuchus. Seems like if an "eclipse" is a bad omen...having an eclipse the week the world is seeing the roll-out of the CORONA VIRUS VACCINE might have some "bad luck." We'll see! So thyme to the English, Scottish, and Irish was about young maidens and desire and romance. Anonymous Coward User ID: 66367527 United States 12/12/2020 06:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to m.youtube.com (secure)] Come All Ye Fair and Tender Girls is an old romantic ballad twinged with regret as men steal a young maiden's thyme (time) and so they pluck her virginity in a careless way without serious intent and so she becomes trapped in a loveless marriage. Thyme was wild in some places and left undisturbed as they though the fey (faerie) had caused it to spring up, so it was a place of magic...perhaps wild dangerous magic. Then young maidens would put thyme in their hair to attract potential suitors. |
