Just for the hell of it, I took out my Inspector Alert to monitor the Radioactivity in this snow storm...
The Pancake style Inspector Alert is calibrated and only monitors Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and X-ray emissions. It does not pick up background radiation...
Base reading inside was only 0.012 mR/hr (uSv/hr)...
Outside in the snow pack was 5 times above base level at 0.064 mR/hr (uSv/hr)...
Is anyone getting any HOT readings from this Snow Storm???
It would be interesting to see what States are being effected by this...
Remember don't eat the HOT snow especially if there are Alpha particles in them...
Quoting: DuckNCover What one do you recommend? I would like to get one. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78121542 The more accurate ones are the pancake style Geiger Counters. I have an Inspector Alert... Quoting: DuckNCover Utah also burns radioactive waste. The plant that does so is SW of SLC and there are only 3 plants in the country licensed by the NRC to do so. Utah also processes and makes MOX fuel, to the N of SLC. So altho it doesn't have any nuke plants, it is releasing to the atmosphere untold amounts of rad products in production & burning. And then of course is the fracking. Fracking releases a f-ton of Iodine products downwind. It seems to be showing in the amount of birth defects according to this article ftom Rolling Stone, altho i would not pin this entirely on fracking...but take into account the radon, the burning waste, the Mox production facility as well.
