Hi wharf! Nice to hear your doing good. Look forward to your chicken stroganoff!

I'm frying the chicken cutlets now for my mushroom cream sauce second time around.

ooo, I think I am getting the hang of gravy again ... thank you for the reminder .. a little thin here ... from another thread and battles with ... others..

pork chops thawed in beer .. then tossed... added full stick of butter and spices ... fresh cut french fries air fried in coconut oil and white onions softened in the left over gravy made from the pork chop droppings + (spelt) ...a little thin but the fries soak it up ...

Pork chops in beer...Never tried that. Sounds interesting!

We're having leftovers tonight. I'll get some chicken out of the freezer for grilling tomorrow.

I now feel the need to look deeper into gravy recipes. I don't eat breakfast...but I do like biscuits and gravy and such...hm....

I'll share

Take a pound of really good sausage. We get local spicy breakfast sausage. Brown and break into crumbles in a deep skillet. Add 1/4 to 1/3 c. of flour and cook and stir a bit. Then pour in milk..slowly and stirring constantly. I use about 3 c.
Cook, stirring constantly until it simmers and then season (we like lots of fresh ground pepper and dash of cayenne..more if the sausage isn't spicy, chipotle instead if it is already plenty hot)
I usually make the biscuits from scratch..just the recipe from the baking powder tin. We use Rumfords. But King Arthur Flour's website has some good recipes too, including baking powder biscuits. If you click the arrow on the right hand side of the picture above, you will see the biscuits.

I am IN LOVE with my instant pot tonite. I was outside working all day in snow, wind, and a little sleet. I was too tired to eat after work yesterday then had trouble sleeping last night..so in 40 minutes I made some amazing 13 bean soup in that thing. Holy smokes did it turn out nice and really hit the spot after being chilled to the bone.

Oh biscuits and gravy are so yummy!

Soup is the best dinner for cold nights. It was so nice here today, almost 70 & sunny.

Re: Food with Attitude!
I made a soup today with potatoes, mushrooms and pea protein powder. Here’s the recipe:

1 russet potato, peeled
1 cup mushrooms, chopped
1/2 a white onion, chopped
1 tspn of coconut oil
1/4 cup half and half-optional, and should be omitted going forward into spring but today it tasted good
1 scoop pea protein isolate powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Put all ingredients in a pan and cover with water. Simmer for 1 hour and blend. Serve with a can of Red Bull.

This is a complete meal and makes an amazing lunch.

It all looks so wonderful!! I would LOVE corned beef right now, but living in the country - not driving to town means waiting until I brine some myself.

It will taste all the better for the wait though.

I got home from work around 6:15, ate a bowl of stew and fell asleep. Have you ever been so tired you have to eat while leaning on your other hand so you don't fall asleep in your food? lol

And where has pool gone? I miss her
hugs

That steak and that chicken pasta too. I don't eat seafood, but I would combine those two..instead of surf and turf, it could be fur and feathers? except that doesn't sound as appetizing
chuckle
But chickens don't really fly, so 'land and sky' doesn't work either.

Glad to see everyone

Sounds like great dinner, great cookies, and great grilling with a river view.

No pics of our afternoon and evening. I took off work at noon, Mrs. let me nap two hours.

She had previously watched about ten hours on shopping unadvertised specials at Walmart on YouTube which she had on in the background as I worked today.

So we went, and she got a 20" machete, artist pastel markers for $15 off, boots for $1, firestarters under a dollar, I bought five micro HDMI, HDMI, Display port, and DVI adaptors for the price of two online, so I can get at least two monitors of the three video outputs my laptop and PC connected and each was on closeout, and as I needed a new air compressor I checked near automotive and there was one that though marked $129, its scanned at $49 with my phone so I bought it.

I couldn't believe how much we saved today. Items vary store to store and since they may be slow sellers or almost out of stock they mark them way down and you need to scan the barcode at the store you are shopping at. They show as out of stock on line though the store may have a dozen of them.

I learned the only way to shop there now.

Woo hoo! I love it when I find something on sale, especially when you don't expect it to be.

MR was happy he found a Himalayan salt lamp at Salvation Army yesterday for $5. He really likes lights. He has all my diffusers That change colors set up with the lights on every night.

No, I don't have a place to or I would give it a try. I have a friend that makes my butter for me. I live in an apt & can't afford the smell.

Sounds like great dinner, great cookies, and great grilling with a river view.

Re: Food with Attitude!
Today's brunch shall be chili, I'm thawing ground beef now, and I'll add diced onions, diced peppers, sweet corn, cayenne pepper and chili powder. In Lance' commemoration I am adding no beans, he says real chili doesn't have them!

Edit to add: I still have canned Hatch chili peppers I smuggled from Texas to Virginia--they are going in too!

Oh and when I sent an email to our section and three others that usually call me directly vs. routing it through help saying I was leaving at noon I got this message in Teams from our boss--our new team lead is as much of a smart-ass as I am.

Re: Food with Attitude!
We have to take a trip to the city today, so we'll probably stop at Duncan Donuts for a coffee. That's are little treat for having to put up with the asshole drivers. I think I'll drive today. That way Mr can concentrate on his sentence enhancers.chuckle

It's nice today so we can stop at St Simons and walk on the beach. We always try to make the trip worth it by going somewhere nice up there, too. Especially with higher gas prices now.

My son sent me this meme. I thought it was appropriate for our foodie thread on GLP!
