It was a long day for me. I'm glad I have leftovers so no cooking for me! I think I'll be eating chili.

My daughter's dog managed to get chocolate muffins she baked. She ate one & put the rest on the counter back against the wall to cool. She went to pick Baby up from school.

15 minutes later... She walked over to get one for Baby. The only evidence left that she even baked them was the empty paper from the one she ate. The dog had eaten all 15 chocolate chip muffins, paper & all!

She called the vet who said she should be ok. She is a 90 lb Dalmatain. Her belly is all swollen & looks huge. She's been walking around with farting all the time.

The vet said to feed her bland food like boiled chicken & white rice for a few days. It's almost like she's getting a reward of people food for being bad!

Poor doggo!
This is my diva cat. She looks like this whether you are trying to eat dinner or pet the dog(instead of her). If she is sleeping across the room and you pet the dog, she will stand up and stretch. If dog dares to persist in allowing your affection, she will quickly cross the room to rectify the situation with a few sharp swats to all offending parties, petter and pettee.

It will save you a lot of headaches.

But I am a little disappointed because they do not seem to be making me thin yet.

I just made pizza sauce for the first time in a coupla decades. It is very good.....chuckle it makes such things happen in your mouth, you'd think there's a party going on in there.

I had a looksee at this recipe, just to get my bearings, and then went with it, with a couple of changes, this due to what I had available in my kitchen--

[link to www.allrecipes.com (secure)]

My recipe, apx.....harhar, I don't measure much of anything....tounge

1 can tomato paste, organic is best (the flavor is bolder/richer)

1.5 cups of water, apx. (it's going to cook out anyway)

1/4 cup of grated romano or parmesan (I had romano)

2 T of chopped garlic (I used organic here, prechopped)

1 T of honey (almost too much for me, but the sweetness cooked out nicely. I can't imagine 2 T of it in there. Yikes!)

5 anchovy fillets, minced (no paste where I live. It is going to melt into the sauce anyway)

1.5 t Italian seasoning (next time I make this, I'm going to try it with fresh herbs)

1/2 t dried red pepper flakes

Salt to taste (and it took on a more than expected amount of salt to bring the flavor up)

Bring the water to boil in a sauce pan, put the tomato paste in there, without stirring it up. I then just dip my paste can into the boiling water, so I can clean the can out of its tomato yumminess. Now stir, and reduce heat to simmer.

In goes all the other ingredients, save for the cheese. Allow this to simmer and reduce until you're at the constancy you like....I don't like a thick pizza sauce, so any makers of this recipe may need to reduce it more. I think I simmered mine about 20 minutes or so, stirring often. Take off the heat, add cheese, and stir.

Easy peasy!....flower

I had three reactions to this pizza sauce happen in my mouth--

1) The heat of the red pepper was pleasantly mild. It's as though the flavor was misted into my mouth. It's like it was the foundation for everything else that would follow. I think too much heat would take away from the foundation reaction. It's a perfect amount for me, you might want more.

2) Then the tomato and all does something in the mouth, and it starts watering....like while you're tasting it, you're mouth starts watering.

billlaugh

3) As a finish to the tasting, I could taste all the flavors, save for the anchovy....not boldly, but nicely and mixedly pronounced....in other words, it wasn't too tomatoey, it has flavor "body."

I mean, this is a perfect sauce for a cheese only pizza, the flavor is that good.

It's just about time to start herb seeds where I live here, I'm going to grow my own - I adore fresh marjoram and parsley together - so I don't have to buy it....and because--

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

lmfao

Since I paid almost $6 for the little jar of anchovies and they worked perfectly fine, I'm not going to fret over getting paste, until these are gone.....$6, for a little jar of little fishes....stars

I'm waiting on Jefferson Blackberry to share his pizza dough recipe. I'm going to let this sauce do its flavor building boogie in the fridge overnight, and if I don't hear from him by then, I'll just find one that looks good on the net.

I'm going to make one half of the pizza with bacon and fresh artichoke, and one half with bacon and banana....yes, banana. Heh, a GLPer told me that this was his fav pizza, and I should try it. I'm skeptical, henceforth why only half the pizza. I think he's unsubscribed, but I promised I'd give it a try, so....yeah. In addition, chopped parsley, mozzarella and asiago cheese.

My mouth is already watering for the arti/bacon side....dribble

This is my first time making pizza dough, so I'm excited. I hope it comes out as good as the cheese bread did!

Please post pics of your finished pizza, it sounds wonderful!

Have a wonderful morning and afternoon. We're at 50 F in central Virginia now and sunny.

Good morning Everyone.

I know we have some serious Trekkies here.

And today, coming to the conclusion that marijuana and alcohol allows me to make smart rational decisions, I'm posting a link that must be followed to "What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" a two hour feature film.

If you know DS9, you should both be amazed at and immediately recognize who is singing at the opening of the film.

Interesting. My vision skewed and I see that you have a pinched nerve, and it's very inflamed. It presented like a deep crimson red....very "raw."

What you need to do is ice it for 20 minutes, then off for a bit, then go another 20 minutes.

The inflammation needs to be reduced, lovey. Any anti-inflammatories will help, though they will take time.

You do need to try to move around, at least in 24 hours start moving around a bit....hugs

Do you have med insurance?....I don't know what it's like in Canada, but if you can get to a med clinic, you could ask for a shot of kenalog, it's a steroid. Being injected with it works much better and faster than a steroid dose pack (which I personally despise taking). Whenever my back is fuckered, I'll break down and go get a shot of this. The painful swelling starts to go down within 1.5-2 hours for me. I do very much love these shots, because they work so quickly and effectively. It hasn't ever instantly cured me of my pain, but my pain is reduced by like 60%, enough to be human.

Also, you know I love Bodhi and anyone that wants to help someone in need, but it was my experience back in the day that injuries, sprains and fractures and breaks, and people who had just had surgery, did not respond well to Reiki. It's like the Reiki made it hurt more....because of the initial hit of damage and the swelling. There's enough going on in there, without adding something to it.

I dunno, I could be wrong, but them applying Reiki to you fresh off the injury might not be the best thing. It's been my experience the energy only aggravates the inflammation. The swelling needs to be reduced first, methinks....then flood you with the energy. And I will then help if you want, okay?

I'm afraid this is going to be a pain in your side for a couple of weeks....you really need to take care now, to try and diminish that time. Reduce the inflammation anyway you can.

Hit me up in a couple of days if you still need help, and feel better, lovey....my gawd, I'm old hat at having a cranky back, and my heart goes to yours....hugs

I have had steroid injections in my back. They work pretty fast, providing you have a doc that knows what they're doing. The first one I had didn't, & the shot didn't work.

Another safe thing to try is a dose or two of homeopathic hypericum or homeopathic bellis perennis..arnica if you don't have the others. Arnica ointment or traumeel/zeal rub if you have it may help but it's better for muscle pain/ trauma/ contusions than nerve pain.

Trekkie here, but only serious about the Original Series. I have watched & mostly liked The Next Generation, but just couldn't get any further in.

I'm just stuck on Captain Kirk. What a manly leader he is! eyebat

Louis, did you see this?? It fell off the front page pretty quick. Maybe not many people outside of Ohio know him?

I have had steroid injections in my back. They work pretty fast, providing you have a doc that knows what they're doing. The first one I had didn't, & the shot didn't work.

Feel better Lance! hugs

I'm not talking about a cortisone shot. The kenalog shot I get goes into my s226

Normally they give me a shot of muscle relaxer, too. That also helps. Pain makes us tense up, this counterintuitive.

When my back goes out, it becomes the rock star of pain. I can't even with it....shrug

Yeah, back pain can be horrible! I've never heard of that shot. My back just started a few years ago. Mine is manageable. I have more issues with my neck/headaches.

Deep Space Nine was the best written, with the best set of all, but as it was the 'Dark' version of Star Trek, it did not find as much favor as earlier versions.

I believe though like the original series, in forty five years it will be as highly regarded

Oh no about MS, that brings tears to my eyes.

That invites much thought.

If they achieve quantum teleportation then the same people will announce it sequentially from Winnipeg, Rio de Janeiro, London, Bangalore, and Sydney within minutes of each occurrence.

If they achieve quantum time travel, then we all heard about it yesterday and they possibly even upgraded your membership on the way.

Some sort of meat stuffed ravioli...with pesto and maybe Caesar salad. If you actully look at the recipes for lasagna and Caesar salad...you will understand why they are wedding dishes. They are expensive.

My dog doesn't allow Nef and me to be affectionate with one another. She barks at us if we hug or even touch lol. She can even 'sense' if we're hugging in a different room and quickly trots in, yapping at us. Only SHE is allowed affection lmao. One of these times I will catch it on video and share.

This is her now, snoozing. :)
